I haven't seen a thread on this so I apologize if this has been posted, but I can't believe I haven't heard about this movie till today. I think Martin Luther is the most important individual to Western Civilization in the last 500 years, and I think this movie should be fairly entertaining. Luther
From the thread title I thought this was going to be a movie about Luther Vandross. Martin Luther is an interesting figure in History. His views shaped many of our societal ideologies into what they are today.
I had seen no adverts for this. In Houston I guess it will be at the Angelika or the one off 59 near the Edwards [the artsy movie houses] Rocket River is it wide released?
I'd actually want to see this movie - it'll be interesting to see how Luther's story translates to film. I can imagine the drama when the theses are being nailed up. But, unfortunately, this is the sort of movie that might not make a grand appearance until it's the only copy at Hollywood video. They should've gotten Leonardo DiCaprio to play Luther. (sorry, I'm still bitter that Alexander the Great is, allegedly, supposed to be played by DiCaprio in the, allegedly, upcoming movie.)
Being a Lutheran myself, I have great interest in this film (even though I already know the ending...lol). But it will probably get limited release (if any) in Australia, which is a shame.
as a Protestant, i'm offended at the idea you think i might ultimately become offended by this movie. thus, this thread should be locked.
not that i'll ever end up seeing it (i hardly go to movies except huge LOTR/matrix type releases) but i love history from the middle ages and this might be interesting. though as a catholic, i'll have to boo during the nailing up the theses scene . so are you taking gutenberg out b/c technically he's over 500 years ago or saying ML was more important?
