Do you go to them? If so, what is your favorite? I usually avoid them, but I ate at Bombay Sweets on Hillcroft today....awesome vegetarian Indian buffet for $6.50. For Chinese lunch buffet, I like Hunan Chef on the SW Frwy near Weslayan. IMHO it's a much better Chinese lunch buffet than Silver Palace on Bellaire Blvd.
Geez, Fatty, ANOTHER food thre....oh wait, sorry... Damn, I haven't had Indian food in forever. Nobody I know likes it.
If it was a Fatty food thread, it would be about bearded clam, no? I love Indian food, and I love to shop and find new places to eat around Hillcroft and Harwin. I was down there buying my GF some perfume for her birthday. You should check out Bombay Sweets. It freaking rocks.
I work right around there and eat there once every week or two. It is good for the price and I agree it's better than Silver Palace.
Never eaten there. Is it better than Todai? I hope so...didn't like Todai the one and only time I ate there, but that was at the one in Los Angeles, not the one here.
I am picky when it comes to buffet's Here is Shervin's list of approved buffet's Double Dave's Pizza - Quality pizza and they are the only people on earth that have cheese steak Stromboli. The buffet is worth it for this alone. Kirin's Sushi buffet - I am not a huge sushi fan but the food is always fresh and they have lots of non sushi option. I like the one on Richmond than I do the one up north. Bombay Brasserie - Hands down the best Indian buffet in Houston. They were neck and neck with Bombay palace but they were bought and they no longer offer a buffet. Thai Spice - not to many Thai buffets exist all over Houston but the Village has a few. hey have egg rolls called winter rolls. They are stuffed with cream cheese. These are worth the buffet price alone.
Buffet's that just need to close or are not all that Star Pizza - most overrated pizza in Texas. Not worth the high price CiCi's - Price is cheap but quality is meh. China Bear on 45N near 1960 - this may be the biggest buffet on earth but it is all just garbage. Food is not quality at all. Madras Pavilion - food quality hear is not bad but the price is a bit high for what it is. It is almost the price of a Indian buffet that has meat but sadly this place is vegetarian. At least the location off Kirby. Also vegetarian Indian Buffets usually are 5 to 6 buck near hillcroft. Granted those are not as nice it is generally the same items.
Yeah, Bombay Brasserie is a decent (mostly) Northern Indian buffet. Thai Spice is also not bad...also Patu in the Village for Thai. Anyone ever go to the now closed Standard Sweets on Hilcroft? It was somehting like 2.95 for veg buffet and 4.95 for meat - with unlimited naan. It was pretty funny.
I don't like very many buffets, but these are both excellent: Bombay Brasserie - Very good indian buffet, located in the Village Dimassi's - Huge Mediterranean buffet with lots of choices. Located on Richmond just outside the loop.
I totally forgot about Bombay Brasserie. Excellent buffet. I guess we could say Bombay Brasserie is the best non-vegetarian Indian buffet and Bombay Sweets is the best vegetarian Indian buffet.
Mayuri is another good Indian buffet. Hell it is a good restaurant. They have IndoChinese food which is cool because that is how the Chinese food tastes in India . if you have never been it is great.
much better than Todai. Salmon is more fresh and they always refill the plate unlike Todai. I stopped going to Todai, now my fatorive is Kirin 2, at willowbrook mall. they have more variety.
