He needs to start and needs to get consistent minutes. Chuck Hayes is not a starting PF on a good team and without McGrady is worthless on the offensive end.

ANSWER................ In the Rockets game there is no identity or plays. For Scola to be effective he needs plays run for him. Remember the games with Mike James making plays for him and he scored about 20 pointsa game. :p

Maybe a whole year. I believe Oberto, also an experienced rookie, never quite "got it" the first season-- play few minutes, was ineffective in them. He finally started contributing more consistently in his 2nd year.

We may have to wait until next year for Scola to be really counted on for production.

He'll turn it around. he's a rookie. It just sucks b/c we were really depending on him for some offense. I still say he doesn't get enough plays run down near the basket where he is creative and dangerous

What happened to his supposed passing...I've yet to see a slick pass from him to cutters, to Yao, to anyone.

Wasn't he supposed to be a great interior passer....or is he just pressing to score too much.

We are not running the offense right now. Plus, all we use him for is screens most of the time. He needs to get more involved, but he also need to show some improvement

His jumper has been off. The ball almost slips out of his hand. Time for him to watch the tape to fix the shooting motion. He's been getting open looks, we need him to knock down those shots at least around a 50% clip. He is a finesse player BTW.

Not really. Did you watch him play Team USA or any of the footage of his EuroLeague highlights? the guy is amazing underneath the basket (or has the potential to be)

If that's case, this team might look very different by the time he "gets it".

Look, I'm not expecting the guy to dominate or anything (the Spurs aren't stupid, if he had that kind of talent, he'd be playing on their team), but I was expecting him to be at least a serviceable starting PF in this league, even if he wasn't actually starting, by this point in the season.

I continue to have hopes that he'll improve and become what I expect. The potential is still there. But you can't blame Rick for Scola missing wide open jumper after layup after jumper.

I'm just saying as bad as our guard play has been all year, and as much of a focus as its been, our PF spot was just as much of an issue last year, and, to my eyes, thus far, Chuck has gotten worse (worse, the same...he'll never be more than he is and if the team isn't doing well he becomes more and more useless) and Scola is doing worse than Juwan Howard was...

    blah!

Is pretty simple 3.6 Attempt per game and only 18 MPG no way out you can get better playing this little without getting involve more in the offense.

i mean both Yi and scola are rookies and played intentional BB. However, Yi is doing better then scola right now. a bit better.

Yi seems like a better pair next to Yao than scola.

Yi is starting and playing almost 30MPG and shooting a lower percentage and almost the same amount of rebound. but RA refuse to get Scola in the starting lineup or give him more consistent minutes.

Adleman doesn't set any plays for him. They should give him more touches in the low post. He gets in foul trouble too much. He just needs to adjust. If he can stay on the court longer and get more touches, he'll be unstoppable.

    He's not a bust!

Yao's minutes have gone through the roof with T-Mac's recent injuries. Since Scola has been the primary backup center, that's cut into his minutes. And Adelman is also trying to play Bonzi more at PF, which also limits his minutes.

It's fairly obvious, game-to-game with Scola: when he lets go and just plays, he catches fire (Nov @ SA). When he starts thinking on the floor and tries to decide what he should do on offense* or defense**, he tightens up and is a trainwreck. He looks exactly like V-Span last year when that happens.

You need pure confidence and reactions on the court. Practice is where you burn your role into your skull so that you don't hold onto the ball that extra second in the game situations - you just play. It's like when a shooter goes into a slump and starts thinking about their form.

    Evan

*crap, I'm not feeling this but I'm open do I shoot? Um, is anyone open? Um, um, -clang-
**he beat me! go for the block! -whistle- I've got 3 already! I've got to stay off them! -layup-
