Seriously, WTF? Last 5 games: 6 pts, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2-7 shooting 3 pts, 1 rb, 1 as, 1 st, 1-4 shooting 0 pts, 0 rb, 1 as, 0-1 shooting 4 pts, 4 rb, 1 as, 2 st, 1-3 shooting 2 pts, 5 reb, 3 as, 1-3 shooting He's averaging: 3 pts, 3.2 reb. on 5-18 shooting = 27.78% I can't figure out why this guy isn't better. he plays so much better internationally.
calm down, it takes time to adjust to this league. He is getting alot of fouls called, and with time he will adjust.
He's a rookie. What did you expect? I knew those couple good game he had was going to over hype him and now everyone expects that each time. Fact is, he just isn't as good as everyone thought he was......yet. He still has a long way to go. One area that I think he could work on and would help him tremendously is finishing near the basket. Scola has missed so many easy point blank shots because he tries to go for the difficult up and under and reverse lay-in, instead of going straight up and taking the contact. I wouldn't mind seeing him trying to dunk one home when he is near the basket.
Yeah, I thought he was supposed to get better as the season goes on. Scola isn't a creator on this team. We don't run post ups for him. Everything he gets needs to come off putbacks, spot up jumpers, or cutting to the basket area for passes from teammates. I'd bet a portion of his made field goals in the past 5 games came off offensive rebounds. So, his jumper has been off (not unexpected; he isn't a great shooter). And our offense has been in the toilet in general, so it's no surprise that he's not getting shots around the bucket from cutting. It wouldn't be so bad if his defense wasn't so inconsistent.
I would consider trading him. As a crazy hope, maybe to Chi for T. Thomas? We can package whoever else they want and take back salary too. He could be the low post scorer they need. Thomas has great potential but has had problems getting minutes in Chi-town. Give them Scola and Head (or Francis or Snyder). We can take back A. Griffin to give them some help. This is obviously just a pipe dream but I can dream.
I expected him to be a lot better.... I thought he was supposed to be the experienced rookie. I thought he was the MVP of a competitive league producing superstar players in the NBA. I thought he's at least be able to hit a few wide open jump shots and easy layups around the basket.... And I hoped he wouldn't be as much of a liability defensively as he's been. I know he's still getting his feet wet, and still think he should become all the things I mentioned, but c'mon. He's been a huge disappointment thus far.
Adelman is killing this team with his strange rotations and lineups. Sure, Scola is going through a slump right now on top of the expected rookie adjustment period but truth be told, he's produced whenever he's been given minutes. Despite his recent struggles he's still shooting 50% for the season while scoring and rebounding well. His three 20 point outings all have one thing in common: Adelman played him 30 minutes or more. Give it time......
he just needs to calm his ass down. he's playing so scared, probably cause he just wants to fit in. i don't know why he hasn't settled down for good yet, but we've seen that he can play.
this is a completely different game than what he's used to. yao dominated the chinese league and when he came here he couldn't to a damn thing until january or february. scola wont be as good as yao so he won't show signs of adjustment until later on in the season. look for him to be a solid player NEXT year.
That should have been the marketing slogan for the team this year. I do think its spot on though. Scola will be a very good supporting player, but it is taking longer than I thought it would for him to be a factor. That may be because each and every game is a struggle for us and so Adelman is sticking to what are knowns, ie Chuck and Shane, rather than giving Luis more time. Also, you have to keep in mind, part of the reason that his minutes have been limited is the same problem that Chuck had at times last year (and sometimes this year) foul problems. I think that more than anything has limited his contribution because he can't stay on the floor long enough to get a good rhythm going. You can see that the 'Want to" and talent is there with Scola. He's a hustle player, so you can't help but root for the guy to do well.
No doubt, I am happy with Scola, Adelman should be starting him...Chuck Hayes is NOT an NBA starter....and without Tmac on the floor to feed him the layups he is worthless on offense. DD
Scola has shown flashes of brilliance and a lot of inconsistent play. Sound like a rookie? I wouldn't trade him however. Slowmile also showed 'flashes' but its too soon to give up on him
I am happy with the hustle he's shown so far. Apparently he still has butterflies from playing on the biggest stage of the basketball world but I am sure he will slowly make adjustment to everything. My only question for Scola: WTH don't you dunk the ball when you are that close to the basket?
