This needs to be our offseason target, trade our first rounder for this guy. He will do to the 4 spot for us what Battier did at the 3.

He is solid, a van gundy type player who will get his minutes, high basketball IQ, and can score. All San Antonio wants is a first rounder. He is better than anyone we could get at the mid to late 20's where we will be picking, plus although he will be a rookie in the NBA he has played at about as high a level as one could hope for the last few years.

there is a reason why the spurs just want a first round pick for him,He is being held Hostage by the Tau Club, the ransom money to free him is a little steep :(

i thought that it was on a year by year basis and this year it became affordable but san antoinio has just too many big men to justify bringing him over so they just hold onto his rights.

Scola would be good, but I'd rather trade our draft pick for Fran Vasquez of the Magic. Vasquez refuses to join the Magic because he does not want to play behind Dwight Howard and Darko Milicic et al. However, the Rockets PF spot between Yao and T-Mc would IMO be very tempting for him.

    Git'r done, Moneyballer.

He won't be available until 2010 I think. The real issue is he just chose not to go to the NBA. The media suggested his girlfriend decided for him, that she didn't want to live away from Europe.

I found this article and Decrypted it :)

    http://www.clarin.com/diario/2007/04/22/deportes/d-07601.htm

"I get less props In Argentina, than in Europe"

At age 26,the argentine has flourished into one of the most potent scorers in the history of the Euroleague, playing for Spain's Tau club.He says that Ginobili,Nocioni, oberto, and Herrmann were just as great;but were never appreciated until they left for the NBA.

Interviewer: Do you feel you've hit the prime of your career?

Scola:I hope not.I believe that my prime will be further along, when I turn 29.
Did you mature much faster than the other players?

I do feel that I matured at an early age, only because I began playing professionally when I was young.Beginning young is not always an advantage

What is it like to be the greatest scorer in the Euroleague?

It's beautiful. It means that I've played an important role for my team; But I would rather have a championship.

    Do you feel appreciated?

I feel like I get less props in Argentina than in Eurpope. But this is true with 90% of the players here in Europe, not just myself.

Why do you think that is?
Well the NBA invests alot in Marketing, and in Argentina the audience is very "american",how do I say, very NBA.That league has so much power in the world that it occupies 85 percent of space

Do you feel closer or further away from the NBA than previously?
And the Years keep going by,he.With that said,My contract with Tau is up in 2008
In other words, next year will be the breaking point in terms of your NBA career?
That I don't know.I have to think on Improving and helping on other greater things than the game.We will see when the moment comes.
Which offer would be most tempting?

I will only go to NBA if it's worthwhile. It's up to me to demand that i want to play with Kobe,Yao(ok he said shaq),and duncan. It would be a huge mistake on my part to take off to the NBA just for the sake of it.
How much will Lady Scola and the rest of the family influence your Decision?

It's no longer like seven year ago, when I was single and could just hop on an aeroplane and all would be fine.Things are more difficult now.But as a player, one has to adjust to anything, after all, our careers don't last forever.

Do you feel discouraged about San Antonio not taking you in,during 2005?

It was a very hard situation for me,but I kept thinking that I still had Tau.
Once I made my peace with their Decision of not taking me in,I was able to forget and move on.Plus,I have an important duty in Europe and I can't just ignore it.

I was wondering where you were. You are the man! I never thought the Spurs would give his rights to us.What I like about him is his toughness. I think he will do well in the league after what hopefully should be a short adjustment period.
