ive been visiting this site for a couple months now and i gotta say i dont know how ive lived w/o it.
anyway ive stayed away from posting messages b/c most of the time my questions get answered eventually. however this one question has been on my mind for a while about the lottery, can u make the playoffs AND make the lottery too?
i always assumed that the lottery just had the 13 worst teams in the league but i'm looking at these standings and i see horrible teams in position for the playoffs in the eastern conference while decent teams in the western conf. will be left in the cold. it doesnt seem right to me that a team can make the playoffs and be in the lottery. so someone enlighten me please, thanks.

There's 29 teams in the NBA.

16 go to the playoffs, the remaining 13 go into the lotttery.

The lottery will be made up those 13 teams who didn't make the playoffs, regardless of whether they have a better record than teams that made the playoffs.

    Hope that helped....
