I could definitely see Patrick Patterson. I remember Morey somewhere mentioning that this would be a particularly deep draft for PF's.

Guys that straddle the PF/C position and could go in the lottery include Demarcus Cousins, Derrick Favors, Greg Monroe, Ed Davis, Patrick Patterson, Gani Lawal, Solomon Alabi, and Al Farouq Aminu...in my opinion getting one of those guys would be a coup.

Plus it gives us further incentive to trade one of our PF's while their value is high. I love them both but we gotta deal from a position of strength :(.

I can only see Landry being remotely having a chance of being traded. Luis is too stable to trade and he will provide veteran experience while Landry is probably much more effective on a team like the Bobcats or the Bucks.

But McGrady's contract should be able to address any needs

I dont know jack about this player...but just because a player can throw down the ball like that, it doesn't necessarily mean he's got game/skill/IQ to be a an asset or a player that can help.

More impressive is the wide array of skills he’s flashed along the way, looking like a real prototype for what the NBA covets from a modern day power forward. The wow factor when watching him play is extremely high—think of somewhat of a cross between Andray Blatche and Lamar Odom. Garcia plays facing the basket almost exclusively, despite standing 6-10, and is often asked to bring the ball up the floor and act as a pseudo point guard for his team, as we saw on film in the Utah game. He’s an outstanding ball-handler who can create his own shot with ease in isolation situations and is incredibly difficult to stop off the dribble, which is something you can hardly about any other big man in this draft class.

Garcia was reportedly a guard until his junior year of high school, at which point he shot up 7 inches, which helps explain the unusual versatility he displays. It’s not difficult to see how this manifests itself, as Garcia currently ranks #1 amongst all NCAA prospects in free throw attempts by a large margin, at a ridiculous 14.1 per game.

I wish lol. that'd be morey's dream scola contract. but I reckon landry is THE BIGGEST BARGAIN CONTRACT in the nba so we cant really measure scola against that. scola will sign for something like 7 million a year I think

I think he meant Scola will re-up for less than Carl will eventually re-up with Houston for (end of next season), which I agree with.

Why? Unless you have your eyes on multiple international prospects, the Rockets just don't have the roster spots to add several draft picks next season.

    Aaron Brooks
    Trevor Ariza
    Shane Battier
Luis Scola (? - restricted free agent)
    Yao Ming

Kyle Lowry (? - restricted free agent)
    Jermaine Taylor
    Chase Budinger
Carl Landry (yes, that team option WILL be picked up)
Chuck Hayes (? - team option)
    David Andersen
    Joey Dorsey (? - partially/non-guaranteed)
    2010 1st round pick

That's 13 roster spots. Assuming that the Rockets want to retain Hayes, Scola and Lowry, even if they cut Dorsey loose, that's still 12 roster spots. This doesn't even account for any players (a) taken back in a McGrady trade or (b) acquired via free agency this summer.

Frankly, if Les is going to throw money around at the draft, I would prefer that the Rockets either (1) use that money in trades or (2) acquire more international talent like Sergio Llull.

I have begun watching mock drafts and studying up on the first 20 or so guys, I am guessing we fall short of the playoffs, just because I don't think Morey is going to find a move he likes. I think we will end up with the 12th or 13th pick. I think we should try to move up for a guy like Aminu. We need guys that generate offense. Aminu should be effective right away.
