I just read an article about how they changed the lottery after the '93 draft, when Orlando won the 1st pick with one ping pong out of 66. My question is, what exactly did they change? All lottery teams still have a shot at the first pick, right?
They changed it a couple of times IIRC. When it first started out, I believe each lottery team had one ball only and everyone had an equal chance. Then they changed it to where the worst team had 11 balls, second worst had 10, etc and the 'best' lottery team only got one. Afer Orlando won it again they changed it so that it was even more top heavy...I don't recall the exact numbers but the worst team now gets a whole bunch of combinations of numbers, and the 15th team gets a few at most.
Didnt the rockets in 2002 end up getting the combination for the second pick as well after they won the first pick? What were the odds for that to happen. Man if only we have that sorta luck this offseason with the FA market
