to get another topic out there.. the wheel was off its axis, which made the flashes occur. locke has steadied it, so now the flashes will probably stop. which means they cannot time travel for the time being. does that mean they are not stuck in a time when charlotte is on the island as a little girl, so that faraday can go warn her? if so, they'll be in this time period for a while until they do the construction to dig up the wheel room, in which time faraday will be seen dressed as one of the construction workers for dharma.
If they didn't have a set timetable for this show, I would have dropped it like I did back during season 2. Honestly, these flashes are getting annoying since it really isn't going anywhere, but it looks like next week picks up the pace.
The McGrady thing certainly had me distracted, posting-wise. Not the Temple (seen last night with a Cerebrus Vent). But the ruins were where Ben's team set up camp while Ben was challenging Locke to kill his father. It'll be very interesting to see who built these things, and how long ago. I'm starting to really wonder if we've got a Stargate thing going on here. We've seen that the island can pop things and people out into Africa, at various points in time. Did Egyptians come to the island and leave all of those glyphs? Or did Islanders pop out of the island and influence the Egyptian civilization? Do the Oc6 have to return to the island to protect it? Or do they need to close a loop in time? Do they have to shape events in the very distant past to allow for "Adam and Eve" or something along those lines? I think Ben moving the wheel set it off kilter, which resulted in the constant flashes/jumps (light was emerging from it as the final flash occurred). But that assumes that the wheel is also a constant that stands outside of time (given that Locke saw it last episode decades before Ben turned it in 2004). I think this is right. Otherwise, we'd have all the Left Behinders dead in short order. It's a slight shame if true, though, since there was still a LOT of past moments I was hoping to see (The Black Rock arrival). Think Obi Wan Kenobi. I think he will Obi Wan Kenobi just like Christian did. Open casket, missing body. Cue the final image from Return of the Jedi. I think it was similar to Benry's "I didn't seek out John, he sought me out" non-lie. Locke used a loophole (Ben) to do what he promised Jin he wouldn't do. I don't think they are going back to stop the time shifts (Locke may have done so). I think they have a pre-destined purpose that they have to be there for. I don't think that's what's going on. I think those were the real Frenchies that Rosseau shot (though probably Smokey calling to them from the pit, a la Stephen King's IT). Smokey definitely has made like Pennywise the Clown numerous times and gotten people killed....but I'm thinking that Smokey and Jacob's Ghost Cabin Crew (and the off-island Dead Visitors like Ana Lucia and Charlie) are not one and the same. Of course, I could be mistaken - but has Smokey shown up as multiple manifestations before? I've heard it bandied about that last night was the blast door message "the cure is worse than the disease" - Smokey giving people a "time travel vaccination" that alters their personality. I don't know if I totally buy that or not, but it's a thought.
I wasn't a fan of Vick even before all the dog fighting stuff happened. I prefer a pocket passer who can run a little than a runner who can throw a little. Dude hasn't played in 2 seasons and only completed 52.6% of his passes the last season he did play. No thanks.
Dude! Remember the LOST vid from Comic Con 2008? I'm not putting the vid in a spoiler tag because it's been out there for 8 months. <object width="560" height="345"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/HLJ7bPpI8VM&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/HLJ7bPpI8VM&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="345"></embed></object> Who do you think is talking to Chang? Spoiler It's Daniel. That's why he knows about the impending purge and how he can't stop it from happening (because it's already happened). This must happen around the time (shortly after) Daniel is seen working at the Orchid. I wonder if they're going to revisit any of this on the show or just leave it as part of the ARG.
This weeks episode was my favorite of the season. It was cool to see Smokie again. And Im loving the time travel thing. I have no compaints with the past two season. Season 2 and 3 got to the point of me feeling like I was forcing myself to watch it after I had 3 or 4 piled up on my TiVo. But for the past two season I watch it the same night. Unlike earlier in the series, it seems like the writers know exactly where theyre going with the show now. The flashbacks are gone and we are finally getting some answers. Im sad there are only about 25 episodes or so left...
Yeah, there are 17 episodes planned for this season. Assuming the same is true for next season and subtracting the 5 episodes from this season we've already seen, and there's roughly 29 episodes left in the series.
Pretty cool episode. I think what must've happened is that the plane passed through the island's radius during a time shift and that Losties were involved in that shift. Plane went bye bye and they fell onto the island. Interesting concept that the island was ALWAYS moving. I guess Sun was willing to leave Ji Yeon behind for Jin. Of course, we haven't seen her on the island yet. Yet another new question, what happened to Aaron? Is whatever happened to Aaron the reason Kate was all of a sudden willing to go? Spoiler: They didn't formally reveal it, but the reason Ben was covered in blood is probably because: Spoiler he killed Penny Widmore. Probably had to fight Desmond too. He's in the church and he tells Jack that he "made a promise to an old friend" and that he has a "loose end to tie up". Last season, Ben snuck into Widmore's bedroom and told him he was going to kill Penny as retaliation for Widmore's goons killing Alex. Ben saw Desmond and knew Penny must be nearby. I guess it could still be up in the air if Ben succeeded or not, but you know that's what he went to go do. Next week looks pretty cool too.
I think there could be more to Ben's sidetrip than was revealed - but I agree that he went straight after Penny. If he did kill her (and Charlie) - it would send Desmond back to the island for revenge. On the flipside, he got beaten nearly to death....which probably indicates that Desmond was around for the fireworks. I'm stunned at how quickly they've returned the Oc6 to the Island, I would have figured it'd be the season finale. Makes it even more like like Juliette shot one of them in the canoe chase. Best thing about this show is you really do need a couple days to chew and digest each episode. If you banged out the series on DVD, you'd go way to fast to fully take in everything.
Spoiler Yeah that makes sense too because when we first saw Ben covered in blood, he was calling Jack from a phone booth on the pier. Desmond and Penny came on the boat...
So how did hurley know about the plane trip?? And sayyid? Spoiler the preview of the next episode shows the cop that was with sayyid on the island [i think], so if that is correct, why did she jump with the O6?
