I guess. It just seems silly to me that they have to replicate the events exactly to get back to the island. I guess we'll find out in time like everything else. Besides, the smoke monster is just cool. Christian's shoe is not... They've never really mentioned it, but I just put two and two together and it definitely makes sense I think.
If Ben and a one legged Locke can push the donkey wheel, why in the hell would they need a polar bear to do it? I agree that it probably happened. How else does a polar bear end up on Tunisia? But it seems unnecessary to transport a polar bear from one island to another (cages were on 2nd island) and force them into a small cave to turn a wheel if humans could do it. I guess if they got a bear to do it, then they could move the island without any human having to leave.
I just thought of something. When Locke pushed the wheel, he was somewhere in the pre-Dharma past. The water well, which was pre-Orchid station, hadn't been built yet. Yet when he jumped off the island, he ended up in present day. He not only jumped off the island but also jumped forward in time 30+ years. How did that happen? Ben didn't jump in time when he left the island. Shouldn't Locke have remained in the same time period? Is this a plot hole?
i know this is a super longshot but maybe widemore did it. he keeps saying he was exiled from the island but we never know why. maybe he started doing things to try to keep himself on the island and not leave. i guess the 'leader' or whoever had to move the island periodically but then would be gone forever from the island. by having bears do it he could stay on the island and not have to leave but still achieve the purpose of having the island moved. i am sure there was more he did to deserve the exile but it does seem on that the bears would be down there moving the wheel unless there were there moving it from the beginning it looks to be a super cold place down there. damn its too early in the morning to think and this soo is so damn amazing. once its over i know i will go back and watch all the episodes over again
when you have this much stuff going on. and really anything to do with time travel in my mind the things i come up with always make lots "plot holes"
Ben did jump in time, didn't he? Didn't he pop out in Tunisia and find Sayid there, after Sayid's wife had died? So that had to be at least 9 months after leaving the island.
Locke jumped ahead 3 years from his point of reference. That's stranger to me than him jumping from god knows how many years into the past to the present. I just assumed getting off the island would end the time skips for him.
You're right. I checked. According to the timeline, Ben pushed the wheel on December 30, 2004 but he arrived in Tunisia on October 24, 2005.
Wow, thanks for that! Totally makes sense. I always wondered what was up with that scene with Charlotte in the desert uncovering the dharma polar bears.
We still don't have concrete reasons for all the Dharma animal experiments. On the blast door map, though, there is mention of "accelerated deterritorialization" of the polar bears through gene therapy and extreme climate change. The tunisian bear may have been the result of a Orchid Station test. Unless some crafty polar bear snuck out, found its way into the Donkey Wheel cave, and nudged the wheel. I don't know that I buy that. I'd like to know what led to the wheel room becoming frozen, and for sure want to know about the old school natives that built the statue, ruins, etc. Evan
Maybe something to do with the keys being entered into the computer to prevent that big explosion. After that wave, things started getting weird like Desmond being able to see the future.
I love this freakin show. It was cool to see Locke and the 316 survivors by the outrigger and then remembering watching sawyer and juliet 2 episodes ago picking up a ajira airlines pamphlet right by the same spot. seems like that was after the crash. Does that mean that there were 2 John Locke's at the same time on the island. because Locke was with sawyer and juliet when they found the pamphlet. I am sure the time flash has a lot to do with these 2 scenes. its awesome connecting these scenes from one episode to the next.
What was the deal with Ben? He saves Locke from committing suicide...only to strangle him...all because he said that lady's name. I was expecting that Ben was off-ing Locke and that would be the last of him. However, then Ben begins carting around Locke's corpse to ultimately get Locke back to the island. Did something happen from the time Ben strangled Locke to the time he started carting around Locke's coffin for a trip back to the island to where Ben needed Locke to go back? I don't get it. Ben seems to be trying to keep everyone in line like he is with them...but I'm starting to think he is against them and the idea that Locke is the leader. Maybe Whidmore actually does want Locke to be the leader of the island and get back? Ben seems like the bad guy...and maybe Whidmore is actually the good guy. Ben is just manipulating everyone it seems...and we can't figure him out exactly because we have to wait on these shifting time events to be shown before we know what exactly is up. Damn, I hate that I love this show. I want to just say to hell with this crap...but I can't stop fixating and watching trying to figure everything out. Still so many damn questions.
I thought of that earlier. I don't think there are 2 Locke's at the moment. One of them is still jumping around in time and hasn't appeared in "present day" yet. But he will and at that point, there will be 2 Locke's existing at the same time, even if one is a quasi-dead spirit Locke a la Christian. But they don't interact and soon enough, the time jumping Locke will push the wheel and jump off the island.
People are wondering if the 1st crash was not the LOSTIES' 1st time on the Island . . .. A small bit of info that I found interesting WIDMORE - Coordinated LOCKE GOING TO THE ISLAND IN THE 1st Place Through Mr. Abbadon So . . . evidently Widmore *knew* Locke had to be on the plane Who would he know . . . i think Widmore has more resources and is less crude in his methods than Ben. But at the end . . . alot the same. [Remember Widmore the young hardhead. I mean he killed his friend for divulging info] Rocket River
when i was first going to reply i was going to say no way. but i guess there could be a few of the initial characters that could have been on the island before. who knows
