    1) I heard some comments from Mike, that have been irritating me all night. On Baseball tonight he said "I think we should be the team in the playoffs. I would like to be playing Houston in a 5 game series to see who gets to move on."
I just wanted to slap him and say you played Houston in a 6 game series and you didn't win a freaking (edited for Brad Lidge) game. If you wanted to make the playoffs so bad, you could have won just one of those games and had a chance for a 1 game playoff.

It didn't really sound like Mike was whining about it (like Michael Barrett), but it just sounded so stupid to say it the way he did.

    2) Speaking of Barrett, I was at the game yesterday and noticed something about him. While he played very well offensively, he looked completely lost on some things defensively. He seemed to appeal to first, on just about every play where an Astro lifted the bat off his shoulder. Some were utterly ridiculous. On one Berkman moved the bat about 5-6 inches and he jumped up and started pointing for an appeal. It was plain annoying.

Mike who? What a whiney b**** to say something like that. He's just upset he got pwned by the Stros in the regular season, and now he has to go home and watch HOUSTON on tv.

And to say the Phillies SHOULD be the team? Give me a break, if they should of been the team then they should of gotten the job done.

pwned is probably the most used word in online gaming... followed closely by woot/w00t and newb/n00b/noob.

Almost complete agree. Except if the Phils won just 1 game from us, they would be 1 game ahead and the wild card winners. Since each game they could've won would be a game difference per team on the standings. So, all in all, it's all on you, Wagner.

Which to me brings up this point: if a team wins the season series, why would there have to be a "play in game" to determine a wild card? If the season series was tied, I could see the point. the Astros SWEPT the season series. With that logic, we clinched Saturday.

But I suppose when it comes down to it, money rules the roost. Same reason major college football doesn't have a playoff system...

Because of the uneven schedule, I'm assuming. I really have no idea though.

I don't really disagree with the play-in game philosophy. The Astros lost the season series to the Braves 5-1 because we played them early in the season. We swept Philly 6-0 because we played them after the ASB which is when we were at least somewhat playing much better ball.

However, I do disagree with the coin flip determining which team gets to host the play-in game. I believe that should be determined by looking at the season series. (a freakin coin flip!)
