If any contracts are holding us back it's Collier, Bullard, and Wiz. Wiz will be gone after next season as will Bull. Langhi will inherit his role as the no-D, three point shooting white boy after that. Simply put, Collier doesn't have the strength to hang with the big boys in the NBA. He's easily pushed around in the paint. I recall in the game I went to against Sacto in January, they exploited him every time down. Divac would post him up, then back it in to the hoop for an easy layup. This happened like 4 times. I was on the 7th row and I was yelling at Collier to play some D, cause Vlade's gonna back you in again. Will Collier ever develop? Doubt it. Unless he hits the weights and goes on a strict diet, he'll be nothing but a Joe Kleine in the NBA. Collier is not overly talented nor is he athletically gifted. What you see is what you get. The Rockets should think about moving him rather than leaving the guy on the IR and eating up cap space for another 2 years. The question is: any takers? ------------------ "Oh No..." -Bill Walton in 97 just before Stockton's buzzer beater
You hit the nail right on the head! I have never heard a more accurate description of someone in my life. I agree totally. You did mean Cato, right? ------------------ "If you don't understand it, don't try to understand it." -Carl Everett
Cato's a lost cause. We're stuck with him, and we all know his story. No use discussin him. Collier, however, we can do something about. ------------------ "Oh No..." -Bill Walton in 97 just before Stockton's buzzer beater

You mentioned something about Bullard's contract taking up too much room under the cap. I could be wrong, but I thought his contract was relatively small. ------------------
Jason Collier might have limited value becuse of his ability to shoot and rebound to a certsin extent, but he is slow and will also be comimg off an injury.I would prefer to have Brad Miller instead. ------------------
I love how everyone rushes to judgement on a player that's only played 23 games in his rookie season because of injury. Collier's contract's a 3 year deal starting at 1.1 million and escalating to 1.3 in the final year with a team option at the end. That is hardly a contract that is holding us back. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Band Geek Mobster (edited June 04, 2001).]
.....because there are not a whole lot of positives. I have seen Collier put in some good minutes though, just not enough to convince me he will be a real center. I just hope he has recovered from his leg injuries and make me feel like a fool this year. I do think it is a little early to throw him away. Langhi may also find a place in the "offensive space creation" business. If Horry comes back, I would expect him to serve in this capacity also. ------------------
I dont mind collie so much. I remember being really down on him at the very beginning of last year, prompting me to post some sort of derogatory remarks. Right after I did that, I remember he had a really good game. He's a rookie. he's injurred. He's hard to assess right now. I can say he played better than I thought he would. ------------------ "The difference in this (tied) series has been Dikembe Mutombo" - Bill Walton
