This is the Tmac we inherited from Orlando. For his first three years in Orlando, Tmac averaged 45% from the field, and around 37% from three. However, statistics still won't tell you how much quicker, athletic, and nasty he was.

His first year in Houston, he still had all that

When Mcgrady went down with back injury
    <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/VyuQXmR6pwU&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/VyuQXmR6pwU&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

he was never the same again.

He gave it his all in last year's playoffs.

    <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Wz9e20KBhrY&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Wz9e20KBhrY&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

Sure Tmac is playing "without heart" now, but he really has never been the same player that he used to be. It really is amazing how much he has changed, but I find it disgusting to see all these fans call him out for being "soft". Ridiculous. He gave us everything he had until he got injured. He is a different player now, and he may never be the same player again, but sometimes you have to look at things in perspective.

    Looking BACK on T-Mac...

    :(

Nostalgia...wait why am I nostalgic? I didn't really used to watch McGrady in Orlando since I still lived in Houston back then. I had all the Rockets I wanted on local TV and didn't need to buy league pass to watch them. I used to see him on sportscenter though. And hear about him. Thought he was sick. Was thrilled when we got him. Now it's like...

    :(

    SECOND ROUND OR BUST!

Yall ever wonder how good we would be right now if we never traded for T-mac? I think we would have a lot of good young players.

T-Mac has gone. Gone from himself, not gone from Rockets.

The Tmac of Olando you admire so much lost ton of games in a row(20 some?)

Tmac lost some step and explosiveness, but he is still great if he keeps at it. Every star in this league play through injury somewhat. We have no problem with Tmac not making some shots. All we ask for is super star level intensity he is supposed to bring to motivate his teammates. If some one can do that on this team, it's Tmac. He sets the tone for this team.

I don't think anyone in here does not know that he's lost a step....

Thing is people are more loyal to the "the rockets organization" than T-Mac the player.....they are disappointed with his play and how he's become limited in his skill set ...most of us were reluctant to believe this because he was supposed to take us places, but instead with his MAX money contract is probably going to hold us down.

Reality is the guy is a shell of his former self, unless he doesn’t change his style of play and adapt he’s going to hold this team down. He can’t have 5-18 type games and expect the team to be able to compensate…don’t know if anyone has read the cnnsi article about him, but it’s exact on…..

TMac WAS a good scorer back in the Orlando days that lost so many games. Now he has a chance to be a good distributor and a supporting scorer but he doesn't have any fricking heart. I wish he would stop quitting.

    MAN UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lets see if im psychic...when orlando signed rashard this summer, i thought it was odd, that rashard lives in houston, and tmac has said he would like to finish his career as a magic...so naturally my first thought was someday we would trade tmac for rashard...rashard even signed that huge contract which matches up with tmacs contract, and like tmac ,rashard is injury prone...i thought it would be in 2 or 3 years , but now i think we should do the trade NOW

    Sure, if you can call:

    Andrew Declercq
    Juwan Howard
    Deshawn Stevenson
    Tyronn Lue

    solid starters,

    and:

    Pat Garrity
    Drew Gooden
    and Steven Hunter

a bench, then by all means criticize Mcgrady

I doubt he is going to play differently, and that's fine. He is having trouble turning the corners, and in traffic tends to avoid contact , doesnt finish strong, and hence tends to settle for jumper whenever he can. But he can be amazing, and he is still Tmac. What is lost is the energy and intensity. He is cruising out there.

Yeah. Couldnt even win one game in 20 some tries?

Did he just score 40 some points several times this season already. He is fine. He is on cruise control out there for whatever reason. Quit coming up with excuse for him.

I almost wish there was a Tracy mailbag or something. Something to let him know he needs to get off his ass and stop coasting from end to end, lol.

If i recall right, T-mac actually fought hard in the playoffs twice before the year they won a record low like 14 wins, the year he gave up. Maybe its happening all over again, he's quitting, hoping for a trade to a "great" team. But, like every other star that wants to get traded to contenders, it's just not going to happen with the amount of money you make.

Can anyone name one other player not named michael jordan who has a more exciting, explosive, thrilling and all round damaging highlight package as tracy mcgrady.

    I cant think of anyone.

That is why this board is so down on Tmac right now. Because we can see what he can do, and the passion he can play with (last years playoffs) but he hasnt produced any of that this year.

I totally understand that his body restricts him and what he can do, but that is no excuse not to bring passion and willingness to win every night.

If we could see Tmac trying, the hate for him would not be so high on this board. The problem is, we cant AND we are losing so we take it out on him.

a "shell' of is former self is Mike James and Steve Francis.
McGrady isnt a 13 points per game dinosaur at the end of his career, McGrady is still one of the top 15 players in the league based on talent and numbers. I'll take that, just with more passion added.

The only thing i see T-mac doing on defense is stand with his hands down and stare at the guy with the ball... If his guy has the ball, he might try to not look to lazy, but he doesn't give help defense at all. Adelman needs the balls to bench him if hes not playing D.

    6:32 mark...#1 play this year.

The guy is currently as fit as he has ever been since joining the Rockets, and athletically he has been about as explosive as he was in 04-05. He is shooting his best from both 2pt and 3pt land since arriving with Houston. He has 3 40pt games so far this season, which ties the number he had in 06-07, and 2 away from his all time Rockets high of 5 that he had in 04-05.

His playing style is virtually the same as it has ever been...he has only once averaged 9 FTA per game, he has never shot better than .457 from the field, he has always had around 75% of his FGA be jumpshots, etc...

In other words, stop wondering what could have been and enjoy the top 10 player we currently have.
