You never call the timeout 2 or 3 seconds in - that kind of goes against the whole point of having 5 seconds and would cause you to be calling timeouts all the time for no reason. You're almost never going to get the ball in within 2 seconds against a pressure defense. The ref that's there verbally counts down for the player to hear to make it easy. Once he counts to 4, Joseph signalled for the timeout. The ref just screwed up there.

Hmmhmm. Normally I'd think this was a poor decision, but if he's projected that late in a weak draft, this might be his one shot at being a 1st rounder? I don't watch him enough to have a valid comment, but on paper he looks like an undersized PF.

Apparently, the player who signed with an agent was this guy: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=37337 As for the UT Tristan Thompson, I don't think he's undersized at all for a 4, or he won't be by the time he adds a bit more weight. He has an exceptionally long wing span. He has elite defensive instincts (averaged nearly 2.5 blocks and a steal per game), and a pretty good motor. If he were an inch or so taller, you could imagine him as a Joakim Noah type, or if he polishes his offensive skills, an Al Horford. I really think a year with Todd Wright getting stronger could do wonders for him. I also think his draft stock could jump up substantially if he shows more offensive game. If his chemistry with Kabongo clicks immediately (given they've been playing together for a few years, why not?), that could have a nice impact on his numbers. He has to bring up his FT% as well.
I think that Tristan Thompson is just fine at his size to play the 4. I'd like to see TT develop a nice LaMarcus Aldridge-Esque jumper. I really like his explosive jumping ability. I think that he will be an ACE of a shot blocker. I hope that Thompson comes back for Texas for another season unless he is likely to be a lottery pick. I also hope that Jordan Hamilton comes back for another season. No idea the odds of that happening. I like the Freshmen signed to come in next season. Some of those kids look like they can really play.

Does anyone know for sure what his real height is? Draft Express lists him at 6'8'', and NBADraft.net has him at 6'9'', but myself just watching him I always assumed he was 6'10'' or 6'11''. If he's 6'10 or better I'd love him as an undersized center with our 12-16 pick. I really like his defensive instincts, and athleticism.
He's 6'8" but has pretty long arms so he plays a little bigger than that. The rumor that TT signed with an agent was based on another player named Tristan Thompson (from UNT) signing with an agent. Still hard to say whether he'll be back but he's made it pretty well known that he would like to play with another Kobongo. If he can develop somewhat of a jumpshot, he could easily be a lottery pick should he decide to stay for one more year.
he about 6"8 but his wingspan is around 7"4, which is why he plays so big. He has elite rebounding skills and is an athletic freak. Only downside to him is freethrows.
UT can afford to lose Thompson or Hamilton but not both. If I had a choice I would want Thompson to stay and let Hamilton leave.
Genius move. If this guy has no chance to make the NBA himself, he might as well take advantage of his name and hope some NBA team mistakenly chooses him in the 1st round. Cha-ching!
Same here, but I have a suspicion it will be the opposite. For some reason, I feel like Hamilton might stick around for one more year. Texas will certainly have one of the best backcourts in the nation if Hamilton and Joseph stick around with Kabongo.
