Cue response that mentions Augie's DWI, the thug Longhorn players, and how texxxxxx isn't impressed with Texas. It is amazing how predictable he is.
Nice response to the loss last night. Thompson was clearly not going to have the same kind of game he did in Lincoln. This is what great teams do...forget about yesterday and concentrate on the task at hand...stomping a team they should stomp. That's why he's not worth responding to any longer. It's just a waste of bandwidth and brain cells.
My question (and I've discussed this with other teams' fans from the top 5 in rankings) to you fellow Horns fans is does duke deserve to be #1 right now? My answer to that is yes and no. Yes in a way because the 4 teams ahead of them lost last week and they won, they should get the upper hand at the #1 ranking. No because honestly without Irving, they aren't as good as OSU, Kansas, Texas or Pitt. RPI-wise Duke is 6th while Kansas is 1st, OSU is 2nd, Texas is 8th, and Pitt is 9th. Resume wise out of the 5 teams... I would rank them like this. 1a. Pitt 1b. Texas 2. OSU 3. Kansas 4. Duke I know rankings right now don't mean much especially considering that there are still have about 3 weeks to play and there are still huge match ups for all 5 teams. I think the better question to ask out of all of this is... Is Duke playing like a #1 ranked team? I'm pretty sure they'll get a #1 seed in the tourney if they win the ACC tourney (which means either Kansas or Texas will get one spot so it would come down to the Big 12 tourney).
Duke has only played 4 teams that were ranked at the time of the game. 2 of them were exposed as frauds and are no where near the top 25 (K-St & Mich St). They beat #24 Temple and beat UNC at home. The only other ranked them they'll face is UNC next week. There are no other ranked teams in the ACC. Duke, by far, has the weakest resume of the teams in the running for a #1 seed. They're only #1 right now because of the losses by the top 4. IMO, PItt, OSU, UT, and KU are still ahead of Duke. Even if Duke wins the ACC tourney, those four still deserve #1's ahead of them.
This is like watching a game of NBA 2k11. Texas was up by 17 and had all of the momentum, then the "keep the game close" option kicked in and Texas started missing everything while Colorado started making everything. And right now this team looks like absolute garbage on the offensive end.
I really don't understand Barnes' decision to play Jai Lucas, especially while only clinging to a 3-pt lead. I admit that he brings his lunch pail on defense, but he's physically built like a horse jockey. Not to mention, he's shaky with the ball in his hands and can't shoot to save his life. 12 straight possessions without a field goal. This team is really struggling to close out games as of late.
This is stupid. Colorado is hitting everything. Texas HAS to start converting on offense every time right now because there's pretty much no stopping Colorado at this point.
I'm not sure it's really by choice. All the other guards had 3 fouls and were seemingly fouling on every possession. If Texas loses this, it almost definitely eliminates them from any #1 seed hopes with BYU jumping into the mix and Kansas playing outstanding basketball now. This team has a real problem - I'm not sure what it is, but they are dominating in 1st halves and just a mess in 2nd halves.
They can't handle Thompson on the block, but the problem is he can't hit the broad side of a barn from the FT stripe. The defense has really been lackluster in the 2nd half. Burks has been scoring at will, and Knutson's money from downtown.
The problem with this team is that when things start breaking down a little bit on offense, they completely abandon team offense and start trying to do everything one-on-one. Colorado is shutting down the paint and Texas is forcing everything. I think Texas needs to start posting up Jordan Hamilton a little bit.
Can't believe Jordan just sat there and watched that guy dunk the ball. You're down by 6 with 1 minute left and you just let him score the easy bucket?
does thompson know sign language? i think he just signed "that's bull****" lol, he mouthed it then looked like he signed something while walking past
I wish this team would consistently play with the intensity they displayed in the last 2 minutes of the Nebraska game and the last 3 minutes of this contest. They played with a chip on their shoulder in January, but a sense of entitlement set in once they shot up the rankings and in to consideration for a #1 seed. Free throws are really going to eat this team alive in March.
