whats the longest youve ever gone without sleeping..? its been 2 days for me.. ok... i did pass out for 2 hours last night...but 2 hours in 2 days isnt very much.. "OOPS!!!! there goes my shirt up over my head!!!!! OH my!!!!!! OOPS!!!! there goes my skirt drop down to my feet!!!! OH my!!!!" anyone else think thats the dirtiest song youve heard in a long time? you know the one...
about 30 hours... 1 full day plus 6 hours... pulled an overnighter when I worked for a graphics company, the sucky part was that the job didn't even go out the next day!! Oh and it was Xmas eve!! I worked overnight the 23rd thru the 24th! That was one of the suckiest jobs I ever had, the boss was a total jerk, control freak, jazzhole.
Amateurs... I honestly don't know. I don't consider myself the King of Procrastination, but I'm atleast a Count. I've done 36 hrs atleast three times. I took Physical and Organic Chemistry in the same semester. The P-chem tests were once a month on a friday the same week as a weds night Organic test. Every month, same week for both tests. I'd study for organic only for the week and a half preceding the test. I'd take the organic test well rested. I'd sleep after the test till 4 or 5. Shower. Prep for organic lab. Go to 8 and half hours of class on thursday. Shower after lab. I'd start studying for PChem at 11 pm on thurs night and end around 9am. Eat, take test. Read Clutchcity BBS for about 20 minutes. Go to computer class around 1. Eat. Shower sleep. Around 6:30 pm on Friday, I'd wake up and go eat. At the cafeteria, someone would go, "were've you been? busy"
Lol, you people kill me. I have never missed sleep due to school - something I refuse to do. Anyway, when I was coming back from studying in Paris I left on a Friday morning, got stranded at DFW, and did not get home until 2 pm on Sunday (my Sunday flight was supposed to leave at 7 am, lol). I didn't sleep the whole time and had the added stress of traveling, getting stranded, idiot airport people, and the whole 7 hour time change. I did go to sleep at about 6 pm on that Sunday - and woke up at about 11 am on Monday. I also didn't really eat during that time. I tried to eat a piece of pizza on Sat night, but promptly threw it up. Ah, memories.
Well I TOUCH MYSELF by the divynals comes to mind or Touch It by Monifah . . . . The Oops song is just the stupidest Rocket River
54 hours (though I took a couple of 15 minute naps during that time). I woke up on Friday and did the work thing, then proceded to spend the next 43 hours rehearsing with a band, flying to Philidelphia, driving to Newark, playing a show with same band, driving back to Philidelphia and flying home to Houston. I went to bed at 2pm on a Sunday, woke up at 6, watched some TV and went back to sleep at 10. Got up at 8 on Monday morning and went to work. Definitely not something I could do all the time, but fun nonetheless.
I had to go get my sister, her kids & possessions in Little Rock, Arkansas once. I got up at 4am on Thursday, worked all day, went to bed at 11pm & got up again at 2am. I drove to Little Rock, sat around a few hours, while her soon to be ex-husband tried to talk her out of leaving, loaded my truck up with her possessions (it looked like a camper shell had been added to my truck), her, her 2 kids (a 2 year old & a 6 month old) & started heading back as the sun was setting. I drove all night (anyone ever driven that stretch on I-59 between Marshall & Lufkin at night? nothing but headlights to be seen) to Manvel, just south of Houston, unloaded part of her stuff at a friend's place (the sun's coming up again), & then drove to the northwest side of Houston. We unloaded the rest of her things, her, & the 2 kids, then I drove home to the southwest side of town & went to bed at 10am. I slept for 11 straight hours, but when I woke up, I felt more refreshed than I have ever felt. So, in summation, I got up at 4am Thursday morning, went to bed at 11pm, slept for 3 hours, got up at 2am Friday morning, & went back to sleep at 10am Saturday morning, for a 32 hour stretch with no sleep & only 3 hours sleep over the prior 54 hour stretch. I highly recommend it for everyone. You can't truely appreciate sleep, until you've done this.
My personal best is 41 hours, but there were certain "sleep depriving chemicals" keeping me awake that time. The longest and toughest time was 33 hours. I was working a job in El Centro, California, working the night shift. I got up at 4 in the afternoon, worked all night, got back to the hotel at 7 in the morning, packed, and was at the airport by 9. We took a puddle jumper to LAX, where we had to transfer to Southwest airlines. We only had 45 minutes to get our bags and make the next flight. Well, as you might guess, our bags were late getting off the first flight and we missed our connection. Fours hours later we finally got on a flight for Houston, with a stop in Phoenix. Of course, the 20 minute stop in Phoenix became 2 hours. We finally arrive in Houston around 10:30, and I get to the house about 11:30. At this point, I've been awake 31.5 hours, worked a 12 hour shift, been on 4 airplanes in 4 different airports...all I can think about is going to sleep. BUT...my wife hadn't seen me in three weeks. That's why it was 33 hours and not 31.5
about 56 hours...in a drug induced state...would never do anything like that again but i did lose about 5 pounds cause i had no apetite during that stretch...ahhh college...drugs are bad mmmmkay...
88 hours during finals week one semester in college. I was taking 30 credit hours, working 20 hours + a week and I had 10 finals to study for that week, a couple of late projects to finish up, packing to be done, a relationship I was trying to mend and end at the same time and a bunch of other stuff I had to get done. The sad part is I need to stay up 2 more hours to be able to get everything done. I went to take my last final and I crashed about 2 minutes into the exam. I woke up about 4 hours later, went home and slept another 15, woke up for about 4 more hours, then slept for 20, then went to graduation. Worst week of my life except for graduating and seeing the friends that drove up to see me at graduation. B
Two days, six hours...but I had chemical assistance. Never again...the staying up AND the chemical assistance!!!
I probably went 4 days or so. I honestly don't remember, but I've done A LOT of this. Usually I'd go for 2 days and then sleep an hour or so, then go for 2 more days. That was more common.
THAT is one hell of a story! So did you fail that exam you fell asleep in? I've fallen asleep on tests before, but usually I wake up after 10 minutes or so. But every time I fall asleep during a test, I fail it badly.
No comment If I wake up before the exam is over I usually can find a way to get at least a passing grade. What happened in the exam I was talking about is a very long story which I don't want to get into. Let's just say that everything eventually worked out, and I'm not in school and I'm working... B
I could usually go about 36 hours or so when I had an exam. After the exam my head would feel very heavy or "clouded" and then I'd get some sleep. Very rarely did I have back to back exams. If I did, then I prepared weeks before. Typically I wouldn't study until the night before an exam. I had enough connections in school that I had plenty of old exams to study from. Usually, that's all I needed to do well.
about 36 hours, thats without any help from jolt or another form of caffine I once stayed up for 48 hours 8 were spent driving while I was dopped up on Vivarin. People should know you are supposed to read the label before you take those things. I was thinking, I need to stay up for awhile, i had better get a Dew, then I see the little yellow box, and think dew and Viviran, i cant miss. I pop 2 or 3 of those Viviran and guzzle down my liter of dew. About an hour into our 8 hour drive my wife tells me you should only take one pill without anything caffinated. I took 3 with a Dew. the side effects were. . . . . . you became paranoid like a cagged monkey. I was freaking out, seriously freeking out. I have hit 2 deer while driving, every time I saw a rock it was a deer, a shadow was a deer, a tree 2 miles away was a deer. I think my wife turned into a deer for 20 minutes. It really sucked. I get hom thinking I can just hit the sack and sleep. oh no I was awake until midnight the next day. making it 48 hours I was awake. It flat out sucked. I will never take Viviran again.
I dont know, I have done 36 many times, usually when I sleep at a friends house or On the road. On my Birthday I had some friends over and we stayed up in this treehouse all night, the next morning we went to the lake and I had gotten maybe 20 minutes of sleep, When We got home at 6:30 PM I went right to bed and got up at 4:45 AM to do my paper route.
I've never taken Vivarin. I did take "No-Doze", well, the generic version. It was okay. Not too big of a help. Whenever I get absurdly tired, but have to stay up, I go with the combination of RC Edge and Sunflower seeds. The RC Edge is like RC Cola, but with the kick of Jolt. Sunflower seeds keep me occupied. GREAT driving combo. With occasional sleep, my longest was about a month or so (probably a bit longer) during the summer of 1999 where I slept for about 20 minutes at night, then about 10 minutes during random intervals in the day. The good thing is that I could get a lot more done. But I was almost insane by mid August.
