Has anyone else ever used one of these? I got a couple of notebooks of it and a pen for xmas.

    Seems freakin awesome!

Basically, it has a built in microphone that records sound. Infrared camera that keeps track of what you write....and sets the audio with what you write.

    It's insane.

Pretty much just taught myself how to use it, going to test it out in my first day of classes in the morning.

They are pretty pricey, but seems like it's worth it. I'll find out.

tried out someone's for a bit. Worked pretty well for the time I used it. I'm still wasting time thinking about how it recognizes the patterns on paper if it picks it up from one touch on the paper.

How is the audio (recording) in a large classroom setting? Do you have to sit up close within 5 ft or can you sit in the far back? Seems like a great concept but I'm kinda hesitant on the purchase..

LOL - on their site, "The PEN IS mightier" :D

    [IMG][IMG]

Let me get this right... when I am in a meeting... will I not annoy the crap out of the main speaker by speaking my meeting notes to my LiveScribe pen? ;) :D

I kid! But... eh, I have a point, no?

    $200 and $5/book.

very cool technology. Other then the geekdom factor, not sure it's really more practical then a small laptop with decent note taking software.

I checked into them last year but you had to buy their special paper so the pen could see what you are writing. Is that still the case or does it work on any paper?

Swoly, you don't have to say anything. It records what the speaker is saying, and what you are writing. (visually)

You do have to use their paper, but since this is for note taking I have no problem sticking to their subject notebooks.

I used it today, and uploaded my notes to my pc. It also comes with an online account where you can upload your notes (audio and all) to your online account and share them with fellow classmates etc.

    Pretty sweet.

I was sitting in the 4th row in my class today, and it picked them up fine.

There's also mics built onto the ear buds to give you a 3D recording (you don't have to use the ear buds).

It also has different settings for different atmospheres. (conference room, hall, etc.)

Yeah, I was kidding... :D but you make a good point. STFU and listen to the meeting leader, SwoLy.

Also, I wonder how maybe you can press something to say "different speaker is speaking now [beep | or click ]." That would be a nice feature. [into the pen] "Not me talking anymore" [click!].

Can you post here some of the audio/notes you got? This will sell some more to help you test and find out new features, etc.

I don't have anything but the titles of my classes written so far. LOL. It was our first day, and there wasn't any lecture yet.

Here's an example. Many available in their community.

    http://livescribe.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/LDApp.woa/wa/MLSOverviewPage?sid=Nn16R1GskBQM

You can click anywhere in the notes in the fullscreen, and it allows the audio to play from that pt.

If you are writing, you can write the person's name down and tap record on the paper and it will record that person's speech to their name. So later you can go back, and tap on their name and their entire speech will start playing.
