rockets said the needed size, and length, and athletic ability, this MIGHT be the guy, well seee soon enough.
Based on what I saw last summer, I doubt Elly-AHH-OOO ever makes the NBA. He certainly won't this upcoming season. He has a very long way to go.
This guy needs one season of D-League, one season of riding the pine in the NBA, then he can try to get in. Would you get rid of anyone on this roster for him? I certainly wouldn't. We're packed at PF and packed at SF (Mac, Novak, Battier).
As an israeli who really wants him to succeed and do well and saw pretty much everyone of his games I can tell you guys that I will be very surprised if he will ever make an NBA roster. He is a tweener between sf anf pf , he can't defend power forwards inside and can't play sf on offense. He is 6'9 , very athletic and has good instincits to where he should be on the floor. The rest is just not good enough , in 3 years he didn't improve his jumper at all , he has no rage and no consistency. He struggles to create on his own , his handles are too weak to play sf and he has no post game. On defense he is very lean and will struggle against strong players in the post , just an ok rebounder and a little soft not an aggressive player at all. He will need to improve dramitcally to be able to do anything in the NBA , he needs to put on more weight and get more aggressive to play pf which will be difficult because of his slight frame. OR he needs to develop a jumper and some ball handling skills and play sf , something he couldn't do in 3 years. Wasted pick imo.
Shay, thanks for the great post! Very interesting... that's how it looks via our limited view in NBA summer league last year. By the way, is his name announced Eli-AHHH-OOOOO in games overseas?
Thanks for the analysis.Much appreciated. He needs to become an SF in order to make it to the NBA.Like you said if hasn't improved he won't make it to the league unfortunately.
Lol yeah is name is pronounced that way. And no problem guys , I will be surprised if he ever makes the team and I will be shocked if he ever will be a rotation player.
Eliyahu plays for a top team in the Euroleague. Badiane is playing second division domestic basketball in France that is probably lesser than a suburban league.
<br> Newley probably has more of a shot playing on this team than eliyahu Actually from what i saw in the summer league, he can shot very well and he's pretty big so he can actually get his shot off Maybe he can drive and not blow layups! COUGH *LUTHER HEAD* COUGH
Might as well just post the video of the announcer <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/pc9wpTuwaY8&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/pc9wpTuwaY8&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
My limited book on Eliyahu: Knowing a former All Star's an unfair comparison, he's got a build similar to Andrei Kirilenko but not any one of his offensive traits even measure to Kirilenko's, and Kirilenko has just mild offensive skill. And he doesn't have NEAR the intangibles in other areas. No outside shot, below average handles. He's fluid and gets shots off from being active and having length, but I noticed he doesnt pump fake AT ALL. He's like Chuck Hayes as soon as he gets a pass he'll take two steps and try to float a shot in, too easy to measure. He could be maybe a 13th man on the Bobcats cuz he overperformed his draft position. *edit* HA, as I typed that there's an actual game they both played in. Only one Eliyahu highlight. He matched Kirilenko in points actually http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yKkTACqkS0
that announcer is terrible who the hell allowed him to even be close to a mic. that guy should never say another word
