I have a Linksys WRT150N Router, and I was wondering why when I have it in "Mixed" Mode, my connection speed according to Speakeasy is around 6 mbps/6000kbps and when I set it to "BG Mixed" I get a 20mbps/20000kbps connections.

    Big Speed difference.
    Why is that?
    I have Comcast btw.

Also, does anyone have any tips on how to keep my wireless network running smoothly?
Every once in a while I get disconnected, but that was back when I was in "Mixed" mode.

    why ask why?
Is there a reason you need to know. I'm not being facetious. I don't know the answer to your question, but seems you know what position is best. Just go with it.

as for the disconnection thing, my online gaming buddies say Comcast disconnects briefly a lot; often not noticeable to the normal websurfing experience, but definitely noticeable when you stall briefly in a game and get killed. do a ping of rice.edu. you can see it timeout every so often.

Another problem could be computer related. My mom's computer will not reestablish connections after going on Stand by. You can test that by right clicking on your wireless icon in the system tray and clicking "Repair".
