some or most of you all probably heard me saying a trade will go down for Artest and Harrington. I only reported what I heard about the trade from someone else. After posting the idea, and getting no real evidence of the rumor, the rumor is dropped and is a bogus. However, I was surfing the net by myself and came upon this. I think it is a good trade, and should happen. Its somewhat like the previuos trade.

"The deal would send Moochie Norris, Cuttino Mobley, and a
future 2nd round draft pick to Indiana for Fred Jones, Jamaal
Tinsley , and Al Harrington. Jeff Van Gundy, the Rockets new coach, wants Steve Francis, 2-time all-star starter, to play shooting guard and will allow Jamaal Tinsley to play point guard, with Fred Jones backing him up. "

    Houston:
    C-Ming
    PF-Griffin
    SF-Harrington
    SG-Francis
    PG-Tinsley

I try and stay away from the Cuttino Mobley should he stay or should he go debates, but this trade is too good to pass up. Get rid of Moochie and get Tinsley back. Sign me up.

Does that work under the cap?

    Looks like a good trade...

Good grief. That site probably got that rumor from the ESPN boards. They are a horribly unreliable site.

I cannot remember one rumor they have EVER posted that has come close to coming true.

Who the hell is Fred Jones?? I like the idea of tradin Moochie for Tinsley, but I HATE the idea of trading Mobley when the main reason to do the trade is to move Steve to the two when he's good where he is. The trade is pointless because we don't NEED to move Stevie to the 2 at the expense of Mobley. Not too bad of a trade, but it's not good enough to warrant it being done.

Fred Jones was a rookie guard last year who got little playing time. He's supposed to be a big bodied point guard/shooting guard, if I remember correctly. Didn't he go to Oregon?

I thought JVG said too much was made of the distinction between the 1 and the 2 as regards Steve Francis--or was that deception?

He did. Which is one big reason why I think this is BS. JVG has said time and time again that he wants Steve and Cuttino to stay where they are, but people keep on saying otherwise. I guess they know JVG better than JVG does.

Fred Jones is an athlete with sick hops. Anyone remember when Oregon beat Texas in the sweet 16? He's the one that scored the game winning basket. As far as his NBA potential goes, I'm not sure.

I guess things are so dead that this will occupy some time until Clutch locks it.

BigMoe, you would be better served serving this up as an idea for a possible trade instead of "saying a trade will go down for Artest and Harrington. I only reported what I heard about the trade from someone else." and the like.
    It's more "credible" that way.

At least this trade actually works salary wise.

Indiana trades: PF Al Harrington (12.2 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 1.5 apg in 30.1 minutes)
PG Fred Jones (1.2 ppg, 0.5 rpg, 0.3 apg in 6.0 minutes)
PG Jamaal Tinsley (7.8 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 7.5 apg in 30.6 minutes)
Indiana receives: SG Cuttino Mobley (17.5 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.9 apg in 41.7 minutes)
PG Moochie Norris (4.3 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 2.4 apg in 16.8 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +0.6 ppg, -4.2 rpg, and -4.0 apg.

Houston trades: SG Cuttino Mobley (17.5 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.9 apg in 41.7 minutes)
PG Moochie Norris (4.3 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 2.4 apg in 16.8 minutes)
Houston receives: PF Al Harrington (12.2 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 1.5 apg in 82 games)
PG Fred Jones (1.2 ppg, 0.5 rpg, 0.3 apg in 19 games)
PG Jamaal Tinsley (7.8 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 7.5 apg in 73 games)
Change in team outlook: -0.6 ppg, +4.2 rpg, and +4.0 apg.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

Cat is my favorite player but I would probably do this trade.

Mobley still better off with the rocks knowing he can put descent numbers night in and night out.

Any site that cannot spell, parse, edit ad nauseum is a questionable site, at the very least.

Shame, too, because I love the deal.

BTW - if JO hates having IT canned, how much will he love moving back to the 5?

Best player in this trade scenario - Cuttino Mobley.

And we are losing him, so I say PASS.

"But any thoughts of a change at point guard coinciding with Carlisle's arrival have been dashed by Pacers president of basketball operations Larry Bird. "I think (Jamaal) is a great talent," said Bird, who identified point guard as a deficiency during his introductory news conference July 11. "He was thrown in there (his first two years) and asked to do some things that he probably wasn't ready to do, but that happens sometimes. Once he gets in the structure of the new system, I think you'll see a whole new Jamaal Tinsley."' Indianapolis Star

I like this trade, I think it actually improves both teams.

    Tinsley-Francis-Jones
    Francis-Pike-Griffin
    Harrington-Rice-Nachbar
    E. Griffin-Taylor
    Yao-Cato

That would be the sickest lineup.
