not that i condone piracy, but you might want to investigate another way to do file sharing. a popular method is using BitTorrent clients like Azureus or uTorrent. there's lots of good (free) stuff out there, like the NIN album and Radiohead.

as for your old files... sounds like they were misplaced or deleted. system restore might help, but likely, you'll have to just start anew.

They might not be gone. SEARCH for one word of your music files, but search for "all files" instead of music or video. Providing you get some of the songs as results, right-click the file and select "Open containing folder". Your files were probably renamed. Hope that helps.

    YES! It's a simple process!
    1.) GET A MAC
    2.) Use Time Machine

There's PROBABLY some sort of inferior version for PC out there, but it a.) Doesn't come standard and b.) Means you have to use a PC

    EXTERNAL hard drive

small chance that you could have moved the entire folder somewhere else.

The RIAA has voluntary services to take your hard drive and locate the mp3s for you.

They were probably attacked and consumed by the ****load of spyware and trojans the system probably has.

Or your hard drive is failing.

But just do a search anyway for one of the files and see if it finds it.
