While I think it is tacky, Maher's calling women sluts or equivalents accounts for about .0001% of what does come out of his mouth.

In Rush's case, it is .00001% of what comes out of his mouth....

People are going to say wrong, dumb things and it shouldn't mean the decimation of a career. We need a little more humor, perspective and tolerance on things like this.

Yes because it's hilarious to call a private citizen, and non-public figure who testified before congress a slut. That is such great humor. Why can't people get it?

Of course Rush never meant it as humor, and it isn't funny, and is a symptom of a sick mind.

Why do you spend so much time seeing boogeymen on the other side of the aisle?

Not everything is going to suit your taste or your point-of-view. Could we be a little more flexible and less judgmental?

Does Rush have a "giddy" signal he sends out any time a cadre of liberals attacks him on a basketball message board? Pretty sure Limbaugh-related posts make up 90% of giddyup's complete history here.

This is the thing that bothers me most about "issues" like this. Everyone has such strong opinions on both sides and everyone is digging in and defending them TO THE DEATH. Yet, in reality, how many people does this REALLY affect? Are there really millions of women out there having to choose between putting food on the table or buying a sponge?

It's all just the latest talking point that everyone has to choose a side and argue about so they can get their shots at their political opponents in. No one will even remember any of this nonsense a month from now.

I mean, you would think we were talking how to cure cancer or something.

I'm guessing $15-$50 a month is a lot of money to a lot of women.

Indeed but it's not the $1,000 that was touted. At any rate, the real issue is what is their due. Is free birth control really a civil right?

If we don't take it can we get a tax credit or something?

Actually Rush calls me himself and asks me to take care of it. In return, I get a two-week golf junket in Palm Springs.

Cool! Next time, can you kindly ask him to heed the advice you shared with us?

He seems to have missed your message and he has a much louder bullhorn than anyone here. Thanks man!

I don't think anybody but FOX and Rush are framing having a contraception benefit as a civil rights issue. It is however good policy in that it reduces the number of unwanted children and their inherent social costs, reduces the overall costs for health care by limiting expensive neonatal care and allows for the routine treatment of other women's health issues with the drugs. The only 'civil' aspect is the disallowance of the benefit within health insurance programs by a moral choice of the employer or group managers.

Everyone always has the choice to not use the benefit, but those without the benefit in their plan are prevented from having the choice to use it. See the difference? (there is no net cost to the provider, they are not actively paying for birth control... so no Rushporn for job creators)

He's got a show. Do you? His "job" is to make news and draw an audience. Do you have that responsibility?

I don't look for anything, but don't mind calling it out when I see something offensive like that.

Why do you have to try and make all sorts of twists and contortions in order to try and justify and rationalize the horrible thing Rush did?

Either those actions by Rush are OK with you or they aren't. They aren't OK with me, but that's me. You can have a different take on it if you'd like.

Using the public airwaves is a privilege (and a lucrative one). The FCC has a long history of regulating speech, so free speech rights are already limited. Lies and slander are certainly grounds for fines and license suspension.

So, your opinion is it is ok to be judgmental and less flexible if it is for your job. Meanwhile, none of us are are allowed judgmental and less flexible towards his judgments and lack of flexibility since posting on this website isn't our job (except basso).

    Oooooooooooookay.

To the Republican mind, funny is saying things Dems don't like. It is not really funny in a ha-ha sort of way, but a gleeful feeling much like a 3rd grade bully would get when pantsing another kid on the playground. Rush's genius has been hiding behind the slide when he did this, but he finally screwed up and did it where the teacher could see.

and what are you supposed to do if you're uninsured?

i lost my insurance last year and have been off BC ever since. i have to wait 2 more months for benefits at my new job.

you don't realize just how much you depend on it until you don't have it anymore. and sex/pregnancy has been the least of my worries. horrible menstrual cramps, nausea and long ass periods lasting 5-7 days each month, a ridiculous acne breakout that i haven't been able to control (i've always prided myself on clear skin), i'm retaining water like crazy and just feel blah and gross. sex just loses its luster.

may 7...counting down the days. LONG LIVE BIRTH CONTROL

I know! How did women survive millions of years without socialized hormonal birth control? This is an outrage.
