long-term commitment? the astros were your rebound, dude... and what a rebound it was. nice rack, perfectly round ass and a cute as jessica alba face with an insatiable sexual appetite - you remember her, right? happened some time around september/october of last year....

yeah, well she's back in town; a little worse for wear, granted - but she still makes your pants move in all different directions, if you know what i mean. and even though you know you shouldn't take a dip in her pool, well, she wants it really bad and it's not like you've had too many experiences like that before in your life, so...

just don't fall in love with the rebound. rule #141.

Three things were encouraging about last night.

    1) Ensberg looked good at the plate and was hitting the ball hard.
    2) Andy Pettitte got out of potential big run innings without falling apart and actually without giving up anything, something he's had a hard time doing this year.
    3) The pen actually held a 1-0 lead over three innings.

Oh, I remember her, all right. I was at Game 4 when the White Sox clinched the World Series. She's the cocktease who made me pay for an expensive dinner (with loads of alcohol) and then SHUT me OUT. Yes, I remember how she promised me I'd "score," but never actually allowed me to, despite the myriad opportunities that presented themselves that night. Worse, after she absconded, leaving me rather dejected and lonely, I had to watch the other couple we were with accept the champion trophy... err... make out in front of me like crazed, horny jackrabbits while I waited for the check. Oh yes, I definitely remember her. She stole my heart and then fed it back to me with a plastic spork. I'm leery of that one.

A little worse for wear? During her time away, she looks like she popped out 2 kids and ate nothing but Cheetos, much like Britney Spears. Man, she really let herself go, so I'll bet she's feeling pretty insecure right now. But let me tell you this: I'm nobody's SLUMPBUSTER. If she wants me, she's gonna have to earn it. Besides, like I said before, my ex (Texans) is back in town, and from what I hear, she looks good. I heard from a friend of a friend that she has lost a ton of weight (but is still a little chubby), which has given her a whole new outlook on life. She's much more cheerful to be around now, and her peppy attitude is almost infectious.

EDIT: ... And wait, what the hell, Ric? You're like my ex's #1 fan. I heard you even have an internet shrine for her, you sicko. You probably WANT me to stay away from her, huh?

paillio was off yesterday, so i'd take any and every thing dukes and the other scrub says with a grain of salt considering their combined baseball knowledge amounts to less than an ounce. or roughly, about the same as rich lord and marc whateverhisnameis.

the reds are on pace to win 84 games. i know this because, unlike them, apparently, i can wield a pretty mean calculator. so the astros have to go 35-21 to win 85 games and unseat the reds. considering they were on a 103-win pace through their first 30 games when everyone was healthy and clicking and they didn't have clemens or huff, it's not entirely ridiculous that they can do it for a 3rd year in a row.

I guess I don't read the Chron enough anymore to know why people hate Justice so much. I do catch him on PTI and other national tv and radio shows and he seems to be highly respected amongst his peers.

I did find this one thing from his blog to be pretty funny though:

    .

I don't know what really happened before the deadline, but I doubt Justice just made that stuff up nor do I think he used some source who hasn't provided realiable info on multiple occasions.

I'm totally with you. Morgan was fired up last night. It's time to get on a roll. GO STROS.

    Oh, is Lance playing tonight?

Remember that Seinfeld episode where George combined sex and food into one primal urge?

If you guys aren't careful, you won't be able to watch Brad Lidge bat without getting an erection. Try explaining THAT one to your wife.

It was fun watching Mo play last night. He really seemed to be genuinely happy to be there and he showed the most emotion i've seen from an Astro in a while.

In the Chron today, they said Lance might start tonight so its not out of the realm of possibilty. We need him, but if he hits a ground ball to an infielder, i'd suggest he not try to beat it out.

uh, that is my point. with Berkman, there's still doubt whether they can get on a roll. w/o Bman, forget about it.

Baby steps. Team needs to string together a few wins first. Then get to .500. Then push over the hump. They do all that, they can look at leaping past the Reds. It all starts with another win tonight; we do that we'll have our first (however small) win-streak in a LONG time.

Here's something to consider with all this 41-16 (90 wins) talk. The Reds, the current WC leader, would have to go 35-21 to post 90 wins. That's not impossible to imagine but that would mean they'd have to play at a much better clip than they are right now (5 games over). Are they capable of that? I dunno; the most they've been over is I think 8-10. Now it's very possible the WC champ will only amass an 85-77 record in which case the Astros would have to go 35-21; now that seems a lot more doable for a team that is capable of playing at that level (like they did in the beginning).

    We have no closer.

We have a bullpen that is one of the worst in MLB.

Phil Garner is one of the worst (if not the worst) managers in baseball (see his handling of Jason Lane). The team played way over their heads last year, despite Garner's managing. That will NOT happen again.

Ric, you would be better off giving the Texans your full and undivided attention

we have a closer. he closes out save opportunities. we don't have a closer who pitches well in anything other than save opportunities. use him accordingly.
