man, worst possible situation is now possible... lidge not picking up his phone while he's live on the radio, and Patrick reporting "Brad, we've just heard you've been traded..."

I'm sorry but I completely lost all confidence in Lidge. I kept wanting him to do a good job every tim he came out but he has lost it and I don't know if he will ever be back to the way he was.....He's owned by Pujols.......

    More like..."CRAP!!!"

Lidge is nothing more than Dan Micelli now.

Nothing ground breaking. Lidge was asked if he was being shopped around, and he said he really wasn't sure. He said he was aware of the offers that have been made for him by other teams, but he hasn't been told anything directly about being traded.

What is odd to me is that Richard Justice's source for Drayton's mandate to trade Lidge is an official with another team. Why would the Astros reveal to another team that they've been ordered to trade a player? Wouldn't that weaken their bargaining position if keeping the player isn't really an option -- even if that option is illusory?

Interview just ended. Basically, Lidge said that he has heard rumors, but nothing at all concrete. He is taking this with a grain of salt. Said he prefers to stay in Houston, would like to finish his career here, though it rarely happens. Said his confidence is fine and his mechanics/location are the problem. He also said that the players kind of joke about being traded, as they know that MGMT wants to improve the team anyway that they can

Why? This team is doing little else than embarassing some of the best pitchers in franchise history and making last year look like a complete fluke. It's a matter of blowing it up today or this winter. Either way, I certainly don't see much in the cards for this roster in the short-term.

A little more detail for those interested:

BL: I'm not really paying attention. I've tried to turn my phone off. There's been tons of rumors floating. I don't know what has any weight. We'll see what happens and go from there. I'm not going to speculate, otherwise I'd have have anxious thoughts and worry myself sick.

DP: Why not call McLane or Garner and ask if you're being shopped?

BL: I think it's obvious that if the Astros feel they can make a move that helps us offensively, and I know they've had offers, if they can help the team, then I'm sure the trade will be made. Everyone's been mentioned, even Roy Oswalt. As a pro player, your team is always trying to get better, and if you get traded, you do.

DP: Do you want to stay in Houston?

BL: It's the only organization I've been with, so yeah I want to spend my entire career here. Not a lot of guys get to do that, but i'd certainly like to do that.

DP: Are there any after shocks from the world series performance?

BL: I don't feel that it has been at all, but people don't believe me, so I let people believe what they want to believe. My stuff is there. I feel healthy and confident. I had promblems with mechanics and missed some locations and therefore have given up home runs to hitters I should've gotten out. I've struggled with my location and mechanics, but I'm convinced no matter what happeneded last year, I'd still be having these struggles this year.

DP: Take us inside clubhouse... do you guys commisserate about this, make a joke about it?

BL: You can make jokes about it. We'll do that. Some guys will use it as fuel or just laugh it off. We'll talk about it, but not that much. We know that a lot of things out there are just rumors, and teams are trying to get better. It is what it is, and you try to shrug it off.

DP: You got 1 hour and 8 minutes. Are you keeping an eye on the clock?

BL: We got a road trip coming up tonight. Hopefully they give me a call before I get to the airport!

Sheesh people. Get off the naysayer bandwagon. We're only 6 games back of the WC. We're in better shape now than we were in 2004 at this time.

This is what the 2004 Astros were putting out on the field.

    Biggio 100 runs/24hr/63rbi
    Bagwell 104 runs/27hr/89rbi
    Berkman 104 runs/30hr/106rbi
    Kent 96 runs/27hr/107rbi
    Beltran 121 runs/38hr/103rbi

Plus Ensberg+Lamb was worth about 100 rbi
