(Now, how is that for a cute thread title?) I think both Rashard and Keon Clark will be better off to sign 1yr deals. A lot of teams are clearing cap space for next season but the quality players are not that many. There will be 6-7 spots for max contracts or about 10-12 for contracts starting at 7-9M. If jermaine O'Neal and kandi sign with their teams that leaves only Duncan, Kidd, Payton and Alonzo as true blue chippers, plus a bunch of RFAs like Andre Miller, Brand, Odom, Steve all of whom may get extension this summer. That means there will be spots left open and Lewis and Clark will be able to discover the riches of the West (pun intended) in Denver, Utah or San Antonio...
Those are some good points but I don't think either of those palyers are thinking about the long term too much both wanna get paid as soon as possible. Lewis is trying to milk Seattle for every penny he can get and will only sign w/ Dallas for the handshake and wink agreement of him getting major cash (MAX maybe) from the Mavs when his Bird Rights kick in. I don't know about Clark. He seemed to just be floating out there w/ no team giving him real intrest but if the SAC deal is true, I hope he just signed a short term contract so he can get some of Vlade's cash after he retires soon.
I heard today, (on 610 I believe?) that Poston(sp) has asked the Sonics to look at sign and trade posibilities for Rashard, which would seem to be a change from the position which they'd put forth recently about it being Dallas or Seattle, if it is indeed true.
