    Dear President Bush:

I'm about to plan a little trip with my family and
    extended family,
and I would like to ask you to assist me. I'm going to
    walk across the
border from the U.S. into Mexico, and I need to make a
    few arrangements.
I know you can help with this.

I plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas,
    passports, immigration
quotas and laws. I'm sure they handle those things the
    same way you do
    here.

So, would you mind telling your buddy, President
    Vicente Fox, that
I'm on my way over? Please let him know that I will be
    expecting the
    following:

    1. Free medical care for my entire family.

    2. English-speaking government bureaucrats for all
    services I might
need, whether I use them or not.

    3. All government forms need to be printed in
    English.

    4. I want my kids to be taught by English-speaking
    teachers.

    5. Schools need to include classes on American
    culture and history.

    6. I want my kids to see the American flag flying on
    the top of the
flag pole at their school with the Mexican flag flying
    lower down.

    7. Please plan to feed my kids at school for both
    breakfast and
    lunch.

    8. I will need a local Mexican driver's license so I
    can get easy
    access to government services.

    9. I do not plan to have any car insurance, and I
    won't make any
effort to learn local traffic laws.

    10. In case one of the Mexican police officers does
    not get the memo
from Pres. Fox to leave me alone, please be sure that
    all police
    officers speak English.

    11. I plan to fly the U.S. flag from my house top,
    put flag decals on
my car, and have a gigantic celebration on July 4th. I
    do not want any
complaints or negative comments from the locals.

    12. I would also like to have a nice job without
    paying any taxes,
and don't enforce any labor laws or tax laws.

    13. Please tell all the people in the country to be
    extremely nice
and never say a critical word about me, or about the
    strain I might place
    on the economy.

I know this is an easy request because you already
    do all these
things for all the people who come to the U.S. from
    Mexico. I am sure that
Pres. Fox won't mind returning the favor if you ask
    him nicely.

However, if he gives you any trouble, just invite
    him to go quail
    hunting with your V.P.

Thank you so much for your kind help.

Man this immigration thing is tricky, I usually have a very strong side on heated issues, but this is the only one I've been caught looking,
    right now,
I can lean either way on it.

The appropriate way to use something like this is to provide a link to the author like this:

    http://www.newswithviews.com/Bresnahan/david6.htm

unless you are trying to pass it off as your own work.

Found it on usenet and the post I found this in didn't specify a source link (now it looks to me like someone passing it off as themself). It was damned thought provoking though so I had to repost it.

Aces, I do believe you just broke the law by taking copyrighted material and passing it off as your own. What is it with this conservative culture of corruption and criminality? Shame on you.

    Read my post above yours.

Firstly, I didn't pass it off as my own. Secondly, I found it in rec.gambling.poker and David Bresnahan's name wasn't present in the post I found. So piss off. Go join your ignorant brethren in their orchestrated street protests.

Since you didn't indicate who wrote it or where it came from then you did pass it off as your own. Ignorance of the law is no laughing matter.

Nor is illegal invasion of another sovereign nation. These people you love so much know quite well that they are breaking the law.

Tell you what. I will pay the rightful penalty for an (unknowing) copyright infringement (pay a fine). And the 11 million illegals in this country can pay the rightful penalty (arrest, imprisonment, & deportation) for their crime that they knowingly commit. Deal? Let's get it done.

Poor Ace. I mean, on the one hand you're doing fine, no illegals are threatening your job and no one is discriminating against you, but on the other hand people are totally giving you a hard time when you want to exercise your America given right to discriminate against people who are having a much harder time than you are. Poor you. This is America and you should be able to bash on people that are having a harder time than you as loud as you want if that's what you want to do. And I mean that.

And you should never be made to feel like an ******* for doing it. Okay. I don't mean that part at all. I think you should be made to feel like an utter ******* for that, and a spoiled brat and a jingoistic racist. But that's another great thing about America. I'm free to hate you and say so even while I don't know you just like you're free to hate people you've never met that are less fortunate than you are. God bless the USA.

Sorry to contradict your (eloquently composed) diatribe, but I have firsthand experience of what i'm talking about. I didn't grow up in a suburban whitebread existence isolated from these people. I lived among the invasion and I have family from Mexico that did things the right way and see the way things are both over there and over here.

And yet, regardless of your lineage, illegals represent no threat to you whatsoever, except maybe to your 'right' to be intolerant of them. You hate them for not going about seeking a better life the way your parents or grandparents did (not the way you did). Sorry, bro. The fact that you might have the same skin color as the ones you seek to demonize is not a justifiable defense for jingoism where I'm concerned. To me, you're at best naive and at worst an Uncle Tomas, which I'm inclined (fairly or not) to think you are. And if you're not one or the other, considering the fact that you apparently have no real life reason to hate people less fortunate than you are (are they stealing work from you? No? Didn't think so.), what exactly is your damage? You strike me as someone that just wants to dis on people that didn't have your advantages in life. And, as such, you strike me as a very small and angry man. But that's no surprise given that most of your posts in this forum represent the very bottom in truthiness. Since you arrived here, you've presented virtually no arguments for anything except to say you just deeply feel a thing is true and if everyone doesn't agree with your instinctive takes, regardless of any backup, they're just being stupid. Sorry if I'm not persuaded.

You make a lot of presumptions about myself that are completely inaccurate. Keep trying though. I'm sure if you talk out of your ass long enough and you might actually stumble across a bit of truth one of these days.

You say that illegals aren't affecting me personally? How bout the higher taxes I pay to educate their children? How bout the ghetto-ization & blight they inflict on once nice neighborhoods? How bout the illegal scumbag that mugged and assaulted my pregnant aunt at gulfgate mall?

HOW BOUT THE FACT THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE HERE ILLEGALLY AND MYSELF, OTHER AMERICANS, AND OTHER LEGAL RESIDENTS SHOULD NOT BE FORCED TO TOLERATE THEM?

Cool. Wish I could say the same for you, but you've been talking out of your ass since you showed up here and you haven't made a good point yet.

I'm pretty sure your freshman effort here was in the Condi's a liar thread where you said "Hillary's a bigger liar than Condi and in fact Condi's awesome and Hillary's a b**** cause I think so," even while people had presented many cases of Condi's lies and you provided not one thing to dispute the Condi lies and not one example of Hillary lying. When pressed on it, your defense boiled down to "I just think that and I'm right because I just think that and I don't have to defend it to anyone with facts but you're an idiot if you disagree." And every post you've made here since has followed the same basic logic. Forgive me if, based on the early evidence that you were a plain idiot, I decided you were a plain idiot.

When you make your first good argument here I'll be here to agree or disagree. In the meantime I'll just make fun of you. That seems like a fair deal, don't you think?

You edited since I posted. I'm sorry about what happened to your aunt, truly. I don't think it's necessarily the fault of our fairly open border to Mexico, but if it was an illegal immigrant that did that crime I can understand why you'd be biased against them, even though crime exists everywhere in this country, it's never forgiveable and I don't believe it can be blamed on one class of people -- particularly a class of people that came here seeking a better life which is, after all, the story of this country. Even so, I can see how you might be inclined to do that. Beyond that, where debate in this forum is concerned I still think you're about the worst there is. But we'll either talk about that tomorrow or we won't. I need to get some sleep. But I really am sorry about what happened to your aunt. That truly does suck and I hope the person that did it gets caught and gets the max penalty for the crime.

These people I love so much? I've actually been quite offended by some of the protesters waving Mexican flags and such. Perhaps you can tell me my position, just so I'm clear on what it is I support.

How do you propose we pay for arresting, imprisoning, and deporting 11 million illegals? Tax cuts?

You presume many things about posters here yet you respond angrily when people presume things about you. You know everyone but nobody knows you. How convenient for you. You, as many of today's neo-cons seem prone to do, have chosen to take a rigid, absolutist position on a matter that is in fact quite complex and has serious implications for the future of the country. Maybe you can take some time to turn that hostility and anger into thought and come to a more enlightened and practical view on how to deal with this issue.

I do find it kind of funny that you, as an avid supporter of Bush's might makes right policies all over the world, are crying about illegal immigration.

I mean, it's like illegal! Stop! You have no right to come here even if nobody is really trying to stop you! You're breaking the law! Stop! Ha... funny.

Lol, but I prefer the term Uncle Pedro. I would have paid attention to the content of the letter, but I cannot look past the egregious use of copyrighted material.

I didn't even know George Bush liked basketball, let alone be interested in getting NBA playoff ticket...
