First off, I'm not really promoting the gutting of the team. This thread is more of a parody directed at all the other trade threads currently being discussed.

Some are discussing trading Mobley/KT for Andre Miller, which in turn, brings out the others that say Stevie would be mad & probably leave when his contract is up.

I say we fix their wagons & trade them both at the same time. :D This also got me thinking about what our team could look like, if we traded away our best talent from this year, with the exception of Griffin.

Our most tradable commodities are Francis/Mobley/Moochie/KT. We should be able to piggy-back a big contract with Francis in any trade. I'm also assuming that Krause would give both of his n*ts to get Francis. With the abundance of PGs in this year's draft, we should be able to find an adequate replacement for both Francis & Moochie. So, I came up with a 5 team trade that works on RealGM, but I'll condense it down for the sake of saving space. Here goes.

Houston sends Francis/Rice/Drew obligation to Chicago.
Houston sends Moochie to Washington.
Houston sends Mobley/KT to Indiana.
Houston sends Walt/Toronto's #1 pick to Golden State.

Chicago sends Artest/Curry/Oakley/this year's unrestricted #1 pick to Houston. (Oakley would never step foot in Houston, because he would be released immediately & is included for cap relief purposes only).

Indiana sends Bender/Best to Houston.
Indiana sends Rose to Washington.

Washington sends Etan Thomas/Hubert Davis to Houston.
Washington sends Whitney/Nesby/Jahidi White to Indiana.

Golden State sends Blaylock/future #1 draft pick to Houston.

This would give the 4 main trade partners a 10 man rotation of:

Houston (15 man roster) With our's & Chicago's #1 picks, we should be able to get one or two solid players, which would require us to trade or release someone else. Best, Oakley & Blaylock's contracts end this year.

C: Cato/Curry/Willis/Collier
PF: Taylor/Griffin/ET
SF: Artest/Bender/T-Mo
SG: Davis/Torres
PG: Blaylock/Best/Brown

Chicago

C: Miller/Bagaric
PF: Fizer/Chandler
SF: Robinson/Rice
SG: Mercer/Hassell
PG: Francis/Crawford

Indiana

C: White/Foster
PF: O'Neal/KT
SF: Harrington/Nesby
SG: Miller/Mobley
PG: Tinsley/Whitney

Washington

C: Haywood/Brown
PF: Laettner/Popeye
SF: Rose/Hamilton
SG: Jordan/Alexander
PG: Moochie/Lue

I know that this would never happen & I like the direction of the current team, but it does make you think about what the team could look like, if they were to do it. Any thoughts?

Too bad Rudy does not put as much thought into his offense as you did into that trade. :p :)

Hottoddie - not everyone uses the "dark" style, so yellow text is going to look real bad on the "original" style. Just an FYI.

I can already see the problems this style may cause though.

Edit: Much better :)

If you want to gut the team, why not do this:

Trade Francis for the #1 Pick
Trade Mobley, Thomas, and Taylor each for a mid-first round pick.

(add scrubs to make deals work salary wise)

That gives us the #1 pick, our pick (let's say #3 after these trades screw us for the rest of this season), Toronto's pick (mid-first round), and 3 additional mid-round picks.

Trade 3 of the mid-round picks to get the #2 pick in the draft.

Now, we have a core of Griffin and the #1, #2, #3, and #15 or so picks in the draft. You also have Cato, Torres, Morris and Norris (joy!) as servicable players.

3 or 4 years from, we'd be pretty good! :D

Major,

The point of the thread (assuming there really is one) is to gut the team of our current players. However, you still need to put a competitive product on the court. The trade I proposed would make our front line, C/PF/SF (assuming Cato continues his recently inspired play), very strong & 2 deep in solid young talent. Davis, Best & Blaylock may be a little old, but they are still very productive when given substantial minutes. With our & Chicago's #1 picks this year, we would probably be able to land Jason Williams. Imagine the possibilities if the picks ended up #1 & #2 respectively. Oh well, it's all in good fun anyway. :)

hottoddie,

im sorry but those trades are a joke plain and simple

If you offered them to each gm they love you for life

Why in the world do we need to gut a team with 4 excellent offensive options all under the age of 27-mobley,taylor,francis,eg

plus we have good picks, nice depth, cato's coming around

this year is an abberation just like the ASTROS 2000 season..look at the years bad luck, horrible injuries, same as the rockets this yr.

Give this team time, it will be very special esp francis to griffin, with mobes and mo as stud role players-WOW!

The future is very bright in houston, i must say!

DVauthrin,

I completely agree with you. If you'll read the first & last paragraph of the post, I indicated that the thread was just a parody of several other trade threads.

Hottoddie, that rockets team you put on the court might challenge for the worst record in history. Artest,Davis,Blaylock,Taylor and Cato as the starting 5? I normally don't say trades suck, but this one sux big time.

And what players would you pick in the draft?

Williams, Duhon and Dunleavy

Williams, Stoudemire, Ming

Williams, Ming and Dunleavy

Williams, Darius Rice and Ming

So who would you pick with those first three picks since we are dreaming? How about the 15th pick?

thats my mistake, hottoddie,

i just was responding to the trades in general. I cant imagine any gm in the league who would recommend doing that, in fact, i think most teams would love to have rebuilt like we have. That trade brings curry and as much as you can compare a guy to shaq thats a comparison mainly based on size, artest is decent but we can find a better way to get ron than that deal, and bender has never progressed in Indiana, but maybe thats thomas's doing. Hubert davis is a good 3 pt role player like bullard and i defintely dont want mookie blaylock starting-but i will say i like best in a smaller deal.

I'd be interested to know why kidrock likes these trades, unless our goal is to out-krause the bulls organization as the most laughable in league history.

I for one dont believe in matters where your superstars are position wise, in fact most of the great teams have a great backcourt member and a stud frontcourt guy. Can anyone say francis and griffin, please?

DVauthrin,

Actually, Bender has been playing well lately. In the last 10-12 games, he's been shooting 40% or better from the field & hitting quite a few 3 pointers. When you consider that Miller/Rose/O'Neal take the majority of the shots, he's doing quite well. Here's the link to his game by game stats for this year.
