I don't really like this trade for either team -- neither gained anything significant. Of the two, Dallas probably picked up the better personnel; now they just have to find a place for them to play. -- Dr. Jack Ramsay, ESPN

This may prove to be a lesson for the Rockets -- we want to acquire some good players (Odom, Lewis et al) but Rudy would have to find a place (and minutes) for them -- and our returning wounded -- to play. You know, I was looking over the roster without regard to injuries and I like this team. Sure, I hope we draft Ming Yao or a stud SF, but otherwise, IMO, I think we have the right stuff right now. Throw your bricks as ye may, but I see a bright future ahead for the Rockets.

We look pretty good on paper. Even with the injuries, I'm surprised that our record isn't better than it is.

Youth and injuries can do that to a team that is good on paper. Just ask Toronto.

The point needs to be made that the Rockets are not really talent deficient, except possibly at the 5, but even so we have the talent to cover that up. A greater emphasis have to be placed on the system and the way it allows us to use the talent. We could bring Odom and the system will still have to be addressed.

Rudy is too much of a Rocket to ever even consider replacing him. Perhaps the Rockets could hire offensive and defensive coordinators like pro football teams do. This is not meant as a slight to Mr. Mean or Rudy's other coaches, but you're correct DearRock. "The system" does need "tweaking."
