Let me get this straight, everyone who didn't criticize Pau Gasol the way they did to Yao when Gasol was drafted is being racist. right?
BTM You are talking like-- Through the top of your head!!!! You are no expert ! You are not qualified to give such an opinion just like the rest of us. We will just have to wait and see! Then when he comes here the Truth will be slowly revealed. IMHO
Let's be real here. There's a certain faction of anti-Yao people that are racist. They'd rather have him fail and say I told you so than to have him succeed and help the Rockets win. This is not the skeptics who doubt his talents but hope he'll do well. These are people who are waiting with fervered anticipation that Yao will be a big bust. How do you identify these people? When they only post messages about how Yao Ming will be a bust and nothing else. When they post messages demanding that Clutch create a headline and write a story detailing Yao's 9 point game and how Chris Antsy "took him to school " all in the name of "objective" journalism.
I truly hope he kicks ass in the NBA. I just feel that people are setting the ceiling too high for him. I dont think he will be as good as some of the people on this board think he will be. Its just an opinion and has nothing to do with race. I hope Ming proves me wrong, because then that means the Rockets will be serious contenders for many years.
17 times. Let me say this: Ming's effectiveness will come with how he rebounds and plays defense. We need those two aspects of his game to improve the most over the next few years. I dont think it will matter if he scores 12 ppg or 20 ppg. We need the D!!
So you are saying if Mobes and Steve avg 10 ppg then it would be okay as long as they play D? Our scoring is set, we just need Ming to come in and take care of the business that hurt us last year.
Personally I want Ming to do BOTH! With his size he shouldn't have any trouble scoring, especially with hook shots. The Rockets need his defense definitely, but one of the other glaring holes that the Rockets had was an unbalanced offense because of a lack of low post scoring. Mo and Griffin will help provide that, but the Rockets will need for Ming to also be some kind of a threat to offset opposing centers.
He doesn't need to be superman, all he needs to do is score double-digit points off of rebound putbacks, garbage points, open shots, and set plays. If Cato can nearly score double-digits without a jump shot it shouldn't be a problem with Ming, especially since he won't be the main option. The fact that Mo and Griffin will be low post options means that the pressure isn't going to be on Ming, and he shouldn't be double-teamed.
