Surprised no one posted yet, bet people are posting at the same time.... Interviewed Lebron at halftime today.... They asked about the possiblity of playing for Jeff Van Gundy (and they did mention he was listening, even though the Czar didn't think so). All he talked about was Larry Brown and how he is a great teacher, blah blah blah.....never even a mention about Van Gundy. Van Gundy responded by asking for just a little bit of love, though he didn't have any hard feelings about it, even complimented his demeanor. Don't read into this too much though, but it was interesting.
King James Hey....what did Lebron James say at halftime? I missed it...what did he say about Larry Brown and Jeff Van Gundy? Afterwards...Jeff Van Gundy was all sad...? Can someone tell me what King James said?
Thanks! I just posted a thread about this in the other forum.....NBA Dish. Oops! Well anyways.......this means he want Larry Brown. But I don't know why Larry would start all over with a rookie and an even more uncontrollable and crazy Ricky Davis. I'd stick with Philly.....unless Larry feels that he wants to prove something and make Cleveland a good team or something........ Jeff Van Gundy might feel rejected! This is good for the Rockets.....or it might mean nothing! But I want Larry Brown!
Yeah I couldn't believe it when Lebron started praising Larry Brown without discussing Van Gundy even though his name was in the question. Ernie mentioned Van Gundy was watching, but Lebron didn't have a monitor to see Van Gundy. It was an awkward and funny situation when the camera switched to Van Gundy
Charles told Lebron that Van Gundy was listening and then proceeded to ask him about the coaching vacancy in Cleveland. Lebron said how Larry Brown is such an excellent teacher and coach and how he would love playing for him. Did not even mention Van Gundy.
r****ded king. Does not even know how to behave like an adult. Trouble ahead for whoever coaches the guy.
Hey! That was like is first interview...obviously.....he does not have the interview skills that Yao has. But what can you expect? He is straight out of high school. I thought he made all A's at his high school........
Ernie talked about van Gundy, and then asked Lebron what he's hearing in Cleveland. Then he referenced an article in the Cleveland Plains-Dealer, mentioning Brown as a big-time candidate, then he complimented Brown. It was not a slight on Van Gundy, Lebron was asked what he was hearing in Cleveland, and he responded - then took the time to compliment his possible future coach, as mentioned in the paper.
Lebron didnt even realize that Charles was tossing him a softball with the Van Gundy question. Remember, he was looking into a camera, not the TNT broadcast. Besides, all Lebron did was repeat what he had read in the Cleveland Plain Dealer, which stated that Larry Brown was suddenly the front runner for the job. That being the case, what does that say to Larry Brown? Would Brown feel dissed had Lebron gushed over the opportunity to play under Van Gundy? Remember folks that (according to print reports) Van Gundy had all but signed with Cleveland until the Houston job was open. I know the Cavs suck, but you would think that Lebron may have slighted about that. Who knows though. Lebron is only 18 years old. Lord know the 'ish I would have caused had there been a microphone in my face 'round the clock.
Thank you for explaining exactly what happened. I saw the interview as well and the previous posters sounded as if they saw or heard a whole other interview. It seems as if everyone wants to believe the worst of all athletes. To be honest for an 18 year old kid it was a great interview.
It was a canned response more than likely. Adding Van Gundy's name to the mix probably threw him off. Rocket River
Heres how I see it: Cleveland really wanted Van Gundy.. they were ready to make a deal with him.. then here comes Houston and Van Gundy puts them on hold.. that pisses them off.. they still want Van Gundy bad.. they feel the longer he leaves them hanging the more likely he gets all warm toward Houston.. so Cleveland, knowing Van Gundy would be listening to Lebrons interview, told Lebron to really prop up Brown.. they know they're not that intrigued by Brown, they just want to scare Van Gundy into making a hasty decision.. because they may feel that with each passing day, Van Gundy will grow to like Houston more and more.
All LeBron did was mention what he saw in the newspaper. THEY WERE GIVING HIM 3 QUESTIONS AT A TIME. No 18 year old could know what to do. When you have 2 NBA legends and 2 other guys speaking in your ear, I'd imagine it'd be hard to respond. He acted very respectably and showed humbleness and a sense of humor. He didn't do anything wrong. Imagine you were sitting in a dark room, looking into a tv monitor, and talking to your childhood idols, would you know all the right things to say? He gave a great interview.
