Yeh I think Kobe is on the way down now and Bron is just starting the peak age we normally see for NBA players.... well in terms of seasons anyways.

ill pick Kobe and Dwayne Wade over Lebron any day.. how quickly do we forget about Wade NBA Finals performance over the mavericks.. DWade was better than Jordan in that series, now that was a joy to watch.. Lebron dreams he ould have a dream series like Wades.. James is good but he isnt a 'make the impossible happen to win when ur team needs u most type of player' lebron needs to win a ring b4 he can be considered on that level

Even though the mavs suck, they should have won that year.

The refs were bad that year.

Not after losing 4 in a row. I mean, c'mon, the Mavs didn't even take it to 7 games. No way they should have won. Miami got tough on D, D-Wade went crazy, and except for a few referee miscues (here's an idea, Mavs: double team and defensive rotation), the better team won.

    ?

lebron just came off statistically one of the greatest playoff perfrmances in the history of the nba.

he scored 35.3 ppg of 51% shooting, 9.1 rpg, and 7.3 apg last year in the playoffs.

he did everything he could to lead that team to a championship but mo williams (his 2nd coring option) just disappeared in the playoffs.

I wouldn't say that. Don't get me wrong DWade is probably my favorite non-Rocket in the league but he was no better than Jordan and nor will he ever be. Just because he put up some impressive numbers doesn't mean he was better. Mavs' suckiness might have something to do with the inflated stats. Nonetheless, great performance by DWade and I hope he could do it again.

As to who's the best player in the game right now I think LeBron has shown us enough of his dominance.

How are you supposed to guard a guy when the refs blew the whistle when someone bumped him 30 feet from the basket.

Although undeniably talented, Lebron needs to actually accomplish more before being worthy of all the adulation, praise and claims of utter superiority that is bestowed upon him. Bottom line so far is that he still is a questionable long range shooter (more like streaky), has not won a title, and is an overrated defender (a few highlight reel blocks mean nothing when your man can still drop 25 points).

He took his team to the finals scoring 25 consecutive points. He had the GREATEST statistical nba postseason ever last season.

Great performance. Outstanding performance. No doubt about that. He was the horse and his team saddled up and rode him in that game, series, and playoffs. All the way home...to watch someone else kiss the Larry O'Brien trophy. Whatever superlative you'd like to heap onto James for that playoff streak is fine with me. I've made similar proclamations about Tracy McGrady's career playoff performances. In the end, though, that talent must be harnessed and focused (and, yes, complemented by teammates) into a title (or two or three if people want to start the GOAT claims or even think about mentioning James alongside MJ, Kobe, Big O, Bird, et al).

Fwiw, I hope LeBron does leave Cleveland. Ferry's a subpar GM, IMO, and won't surround LeBron with the adequate pieces. So please, yes, leave. Once/if he does, I need to see him actually WIN the trophies. I need to see him not get shut down by the Bowens and Artests and any team with a superior wing defender and enough common sense to pack the lane and force him to take midrange jumpers. Do it, and the praise is earned. Until then, it's just more hype to me.

I swear I've never "witnessed" ( ) a more entitled player. He's already an alltime great, despite not coming close to sizing up a ring. He can regularly take 4-5 steps to the rim without whistle. He can welch on entering the dunk contest, show ZERO creativity in his dunks, yet still be the unquestioned, prohibitive favorite to win the contest. He can be donned "great defender" while not utilizing his lateral quickness to stop penetrating guards. He can leap tall buildings in a single bound. Look up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's...someone who needs to cross the finish line before getting his medals.

Again, I don't deny his talent. He's more physically gifted...naturally gifted...than perhaps any player I have seen in over 30 years of watching pro ball. However, he hasn't actually done it yet! Do it first and I'll be right there (or here, actually) to emote on his accomplishments. For now, though, the cart stays behind the horse.

I agree with most of it, except the last two.

I really don't think it is fair to hold it against a player (especially stars in baskeball or QBs in the NFL), especially a young one who has not won a title, yet. Maybe for someone in their late 20s to early 30s on a premier team, but you have to consider these two things. First, LeBron did not land on a great squad or a team that is heavyweight franchise. He was not benefited with a deep roster, like some players have been through out there careers, like Russell, Bird, or Kobe. LeBron is not nearly responsible as the franchise as whole for not winning an NBA title.

Moreover, LeBron is doing great and having already reached the Finals. Remember, players, like Dominique Wilkins, Pete Maravich, and George Gervin, never reached the NBA Finals. While, it took a minute for players, like MJ, Oscar Robertson, and the modern Celtics all-stars (Pierce, KG, and Allen) to reach the NBA Finals. You need more than one star player and a bunch of guys in uniforms to reach a championship. Even to this day, I cannot think of one team that was lead to the Finals with only one bonafide superstar and an average supporting cast (with Rick Barry being the lone exception). You need a great bench or other stars on your team to truly win a NBA title. I always dislike this argument, should a player, like Marino be excluded from the top 5 consideration for QBs ever, even though he never won the title.

There isn't a defender in this league who won't give up 25 from time to time. And 82games says that LeBron's SF counterpart scores only 18 points per 48 minutes. That's pretty low.

LeBron is a very good defender and has been for 2 or 3 years. He's great on close outs, excellent in transition, obviously strong on the boards, and he'll snatch away lazy passes in his vicinity.
