Steve is going to be an awesome point guard in another year or two just give him time. He has showed that he can play his position well in a couple of double digit assist games. I think it has to be difficult to be asked to go out and be a scorer, but also make sure that you keep your teammates involved. For example, how long did Jordan play, and lose, before he figured out when to shoot and when to pass? I think that Franchise will develop into one hell of apoint guard who could average like 20/7/5 for many years. What is going to be important is making sure that we keep players that Steve can be confident in so that he will pass the ball when the game is on the line. That means we have to keep Mobes and we need to pick up one first tier free agent in addition to a solid pick in the draft.

    Yeah!

SF is doing his share to help out the lotto cause, so why bail on him now?

Personally, at his prime, I'm expecting 25 PPG, 10 APG, and 6 or 7 RBG. I really think he can put up those kind of numbers and he may be doing it soon. I certainly don't want to put myself up for dissappointment (or *if* we get a franchise type PF or other front court player, his numbers can down a little without lowering his value), but Steve has definately shown he can put up those kind of numbers. He's averaging 18/7/5 now, so it's "only" a 7/3/2 difference, something that he can make ground on simply but cutting turnovers, player familiarity, and experience.

Steve will be fine. He's a rookie. Rookies are constantly learning. He'll STILL be learning next season too. The kid will be OK.

This topic isn't exactly "Lottery" material, is it??

You want Francis' rebounds to go up from 5/game? That might go up a little in the next year or two, but once he reaches his prime, his rebounds will probably be down. He gets those rebounds now because he can jump and because he's got energy -- in other words, he's 22. By the time he's 28, he'll be a better and smarter player, but he won't have the youthful athleticism he has now and he'll still only be 6'3". Hopefully, by then we'll have a frontcourt that rebounds well enough that our PG won't have to crash the boards.

I say draft Cota just for insurance.

There, now this thread has a lottery flavor.
