Lay off Rudy

    I cannot lay of Rudy. The team had no answer for the Jazz. 35 assists?!!! What was that all about? That to me is the biggest blown assignment of all, the coaches'

    yao said "I did not know if I could foul him or not," Yao said. "But I think I should have fouled him."

    he didn't say he didn't think he could. he said he didn't know IF he could. that's something that shouldn't even be an issue. if the coach told him exactly what to do, there is no room for decision making, discretion, and discernment. he didn't say "i was told to" or anything like that. he spoke in terms of decision making.

    this is why i said rudy lied.

    he makes it sound like he told them to foul and they just blew it. i don't believe him. i think he told them to foul IF ... the player is not shooting or whatever...

    but the point is you don't leave young players room for discernment. the only IF should have been...if malone/center gets the ball - FOUL. they had no intention of shooting anyway...
