Was the president's #lattesalute disrespectful to the marines present, the military, or the nation?

    1) I think he should be consistent. The two posts above demonstrate how soldiers are required to uphold their duties and rituals at all times, even when people aren't looking, and if he is the Commander in Chief he should hold example, if only because the military is expecting that from everyone below him.

If it isn't a well established practice, then he should've spent some time coming up with a different way of showing proper respect.

    2) The issue is overblown because of the obvious sensitivities of a CiC not serving in active military since Bush Sr.* So you get stupid cultural war drivel pandering to the Vietnam era voting bloc about respect in the service even when most of those b****ing loudest haven't served a day in their lives.

This is the media at its worst. The legitimate gripe resides between the military and the president.

They are...their news budget and production standards is admittedly low, but that justification also allows them to blame errors on incompetence rather than pure libel.

Whatever floats people's boat. It gets ratings and who's to say another network wouldn't pull off the same thing?
