Lakers are gaining the momentum again, that's for sure. Don't SHOOT the messenger, PLEASE, but it looks like the Rockets could have possibly been used to get Dwight what he wanted. Also, how happy would Fegan be if he could have Howard out in LA as the big star and then Parsons here in Houston (also a major market) becoming a star WIN-WIN for an agent.
I kind of figured this was going to happen. As I said, I hope he ends up wearing Red this season, but it seems as if we are now an afterthought.
What though? To feel loved and that it'll be HIS team? If Phil gets a "title", it won't be same as him COACHING. No shooting from this guy - I'm good rollin' with our current squad and upgrading the four.
By "what he wanted" you mean to have the Lakers kowtow to him, and bring in Phil? What else was Dwight looking for from the Lakers? D'Antoni is entrenched as the coach, is he not?
NONE, unless you consider Gail Goodrich leaving (NOT IN HIS PRIME and on the decline) leaving for the New Orleans Jazz. BUT - Back then if a free agent left your team you were compensated with something. In this particular situation the Lakers were given a draft pick. Who did that draft pick end up being??!! Magic Johnson...
Any idea what Morey's line of thinking is at this point? Disappointed or discouraged? Ideas on his plan B ('cause Paul ain't happening).
Morey doesn't know the Lakers' plans. Dwight LOVES living in LA. He doesn't want his work ethic questioned, he also doesn't want the blame to be put on him. He wants support. This guy is SUPER sensitive.
I'm ready for this crap to be over at this point. Our team is young, and promising, and poised to make an impact sooner rather than later. Morey will have a contingency plan for this, and I'm excited to see what it is. Dwight might have used us to get what he wanted from LA, but that doesn't take away from the fact that the Rockets are a team that's on everyone's radar.
So he likes the Rockets roster, but that's it. Everything else is LA..... and he doesn't like the roster or coach enough to likely make that move.
How do you guys think the Clippers/Celtics trade outcome will affect Dwight's landing spot? If the trade happens does this help our chances to get Dwight or just set up a S&T with the Clips?
I feel like Dwight is a huge follower and very immature for his age. He will let a guy like Kobe pretty much pressure him to stay. Sucks to be a rockets fan this offseason.
