I recently ordered a Toshiba M40 laptop with one 512mb chip. The chip is a pc2700 which is what fits the computer. However, I own a 1gb chip that is a pc3200. Will it be compatbile with my new laptop? I assumed it would when I bought it because many older laptops run on pc2700's so I assumed my newer laptop would run on a pc 3200 but I need to know for sure.

The memory chip should slow down automatically.
