    Hello :)

A month or so ago I spilled a glass of milk on my laptop's keyboard. Consequently, I've had trouble using it. Among the problems is that after powering it up, it only stays on for about 10-20 minutes and then turns off. I took it to a computer technician and he said that it may just need a new motherboard.

I don't know who else to turn to for advice, so I thought I'd give this forum a shot. What exactly are my options? Is it repairable? If so, how much would it cost to fix? Would I be able to sell it as is? If so, then how much could I get for it?

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

Whats the make and model of the laptop? How old is it.
If you spilled liquids on it then who knows what could be damaged inside.
Could be some part on the motherboard - in which case replacing it will fix the problem but who knows how much that would cost since you cant just go out and buy a laptop motherboard since each one is different. Maybe cheaper to get a new one.

its an HP Pavilion ZT3000. I checked on ebay and the motherboards were selling for around 150.

It will cost you at least 100 for someone to change it. If that is not the only problem then you are out 250 + bucks.

$250 for laptop repairs is relatively cheap. You're getting off easy if this is all you pay.

Probably some corrosion somewhere inside. The faster this gets taken care of, the less problems you will have in the future. If its just this, it can be cleaned with 91% alcohol if you have the balls to open your laptop.
