Where can I buy a laptop for a reasonable price? I am looking for SD card slots , bluetooth, wi-fi, at least 15inch screen, and of course fast. Primamry purpose: school work, internet , downloading alot of music.

I want it to run fast

    Should i trust craigslist?
Any computer brands , I should stay away from? Dell, Toshiba , HP, etc?

Where can I find a 101 on the processors that are current? For example Duo Core 2 vs Duo Core ? or Intel Pentium series.

    Thanks in advance .

    computer literacy level?

    1-10, 10 being the highest

1-4 ... buy a trustworthy model from a name brand
5-7 ... buy tier 2 hardware, be responsible for maintenance yourself
8-10 ... you probably won't be coming here for advice, so.....

i have a dell m1530, purchased last summer, still great

Go with an Acer, they're a value brand. You can regularly find them on sale for around 400 - 500 bucks. I have bought two of them in the last 3 years and they're still good as new. Much better then the crappy Dell I had, which had a **** ton of problems.

The processor isn't going to matter since your only doing it for school work and browsing.

The only problem, which is more of an annoyance, is all the extra software that is packaged with the laptop which slows down the laptop a little, but a casual PC user wouldn't notice. You can uninstall all the programs, but its a hassle, so I just end up reinstalling a fresh copy of windows.

I bought this laptop about 3 months ago, when it was on sale for 400 bucks. This one didn't come with blue tooth, but I bought an Acer two years ago that did(cost 400 bucks too). You can always buy USB bluetooth for around 20 bucks.

Some questions you need to answer that'll make narrowing down choices easier.

-Is the laptop going to be a desktop replacement?

-How frequent are you going to be taking the laptop around with you?

-Are you going to be doing a lot of gaming or graphic intensive work?

    -Any OS preference?

Try Microcenter. Care about the RAM, you want a minimum of 2G.

have you looked into getting a Netbook?

Im getting a Acer Netbook when I get my tax refund

u can get a 1.6 mHz Atom Processor/1 gig Memory/120 gig HD/3 cell battery (last about 3 hours) on 8.9 inch screen (think of a macbook mini) for about $300 on Amazon

there is one also same specs, but 160 gig and a 6 cell battery (6 hours) for $330

    AND ITS WINDOWS XP!!! :)

the only setback, no CD/DVD Rom, but its barely even used now with 1 gig flash USB drives being common now.

You also may want to let people know what "a reasonable price" to you is.

Sam's and Costco often have pretty good prices on laptops.
