This was sent in by a fan who was at the game last night... I used to live in Houston but am working in Salt Lake right now. I was able to attent the Rocky Mountain Review last night and noticed three things about Langhi. 1. Dan Langhi can shoot the ball. 2. Dan Langhi can't play defense. 3. Dan NEVER passes the ball. In the first half, Dan had a sweet stroke. During the second half, a lot of the local fans started to razz Dan because of his lack of passing. It really got to him. At one point, there were 10 consecutive points scored against him and Dan started throwing up bricks and airballs. As you already know, offense has never been a problem in Houston, defense is what they need to get to the level. (meaning playoffs) ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
Yea yea, UTAH SUCKS They will NEVER EVER win a championship. Once karl and john leave, theyll be so pathetic. I dont think you can call Dan selfish when you watch Sneed and Colson hog the ball. I wouldn't be surprised if the Rocks finish the season over the ****ty Jazz. Man I hate the Jazz ------------------ I've got long signature envy
So, is this fan underprivileged with no computer, or so shy he won't come out of lurk mode. just think if all lurkers start emailing clutch their posts. hehe. actually, that is not a bad idea. sorta like a newbie filter. anyhow, j/k. I like to try to provoke lurkers into registering. nice post...whoever you are.
I guess that explains why Dan's shooting went cold after being so HOT! Does he just need more playing time or is this a problem for him? I never really noticed him to play good defense except against Lamar Odom - but Lamar still scored about 20 points that night! ------------------ This is our FRANCHISE and these are the RULES - Learn it, Live it, Love it!
Yea he got blown by a bunch, but that won't matter when Cato's got his back. Seriously, Dan will have a role on this team as the designated offense off the bench. No more , no less but, that is a valuable commodity. ------------------ The Muffin Man is seated at the table in the laboratory of the Utility Muffin Research Kitchen... Later he says: "SOME PEOPLE... Dan is as streaky a shooter as Ive ever seen. And geez does he shoot a lot of airballs when he's off. My opinion on the man hasnt changed much since mid-season. I dont think he will ever be anything special. I hope I'm wrong. ------------------
Streaky would work out just fine if he come off the bench red-hot, like BULLARD!!! ------------------ This is our FRANCHISE and these are the RULES - Learn it, Live it, Love it!

I agree with you 100%, unfortunately. Langhi does not move laterally well enough, or have the body control, to ever be an NBA starter for a playoff team. He just does not have the special type of athleticism or instinct that true NBA players possess. This is supposed to be Dan's breakout year, but I will bet right now by the second half of the season Dan will be riding the pine as the Rocket's 11th or 12th man. ------------------
Much better, gene p... I think they're gonna call me the 'sig police' hahaha rH ------------------ Updated: The Psychedelic Groove House of Rockets Basketball Love! join the club! It pains me to say this, because I am long-time Langhi fan (as a Vandy alum, I've followed him for 6 years now). Dan is a gifted shooter, but his feet are too slow to guard most NBA players. Adding bulk is not going to solve that problem. Also, he has never been asked to be a good passer in his post-high school career, and I don't see the NBA as being a good training ground for passing skills. I hope I'm wrong, but I've watched enough Langhiball to feel too optomistic on this point. ------------------
We want him passing the ball? Screw that. He's 7', and when he's on he could drain a 30' in the middle of a Texas tornado. We're bringing him off the bench to score points - instant offense baby. If he passes up an open shot, bench his ass. ------------------ The time for logic and reason has come and gone. It's homer time now. Believe.

I think it is a good combination with Dan/Walt = offense and Morris/Griffin = defense. ------------------ This signature has been shortened due to popular demand .
Well I see everyone in the summer leagues hogging the ball!Everyone is trying to prove they can play in the league so most the players when they get thier hands on the ball they usually take the shot for the most part,I see no difference between Langhi and the rest of the players out there.Anyways all he needs to do is swing it around and learn the entry pass. Langhi will have trouble on the defensive side due to him playing the 2 guard but when we have a legitimate big man to stay back I dont think there will be a problem. On another note the opposition will have some trouble shooting over him. He still needs some more weight on him and work on his lateral movement but other than that his play is fine,IMO.I also like how aggresive he is on the offensive boards! ------------------ AKA Rendiggler
IF Dan's future on this team will be limited to offense off the bench, than I say the jury is still out...The best shooting 6th men possess more than a nice stroke, they possess self-starting motors...Guys like Dell Curry, Dale Ellis, etc have that rare ability to get up Christmas morning, walk out into the back yard, yawn, and nail a three...There are other kinds of very productive 6th men, but if all Langhi's going to offer is his shot, then we'll have to see if he has the ability to get hot on demand... ------------------ We're all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars... Langhi @ 6'10"is a conundrum in that he has the great shooting skills you want in a SF, but lacks the lateral quickness and slashing ability you would typically see in a 6'7" player. Why can't we take advantage of his height and post him up on smaller SF's? Also with inside positioning he would be a much more effective rebounder...he has GREAT hops. Can't figure out why he ONLY gets the ball 20-25 feet from the basket. At Vandy he had a great inside and outside game. Let's utilize his natural advantages!
Individual defense isn't a problem, it's team defense that counts. Other then Stockton stealing the ball, who on Utah is a great individual defender. What about Milwaukee, and Phoenix, and Sacramento (before Doug Christie arrived)? As long as this team plays solid team defense, and stays reasonably healthy they'll be in the playoffs. ------------------ What if I say to you that the universe is a three-legged horse, eh?
