What's Landry's status for next year? Does Rocket have a team option on him next year? Or is he an unrestricted free agent? I hope we don't ended up in a Gilbert Arenas situation with him where we couldn't afford to keep him.

Team option on his 2nd year. The 2nd year salary is a little over $700K. After that he will be a restricted free agent.

    Incorrect.

Clutch asked Daryl Morey and it's a one year then he's a restricted free agent.

Really? Hoopshype listed his 2nd year as team option.

Yep the websites listing a team option are wrong. I started a thread about this a month ago and got blown out of the water proven wrong by Clutch.

So if some teams decide to offer Landry a 4 year contract with 5 mil. each it would be hard to keep him here.

You guys are right. I found this on Chron

The Rockets and Landry had reached a negotiation impasse over the amount of money to be guaranteed in his minimum contract. Landry, a 6-9 forward from Purdue who was the first player selected in the second round of the 2007 NBA draft, agreed to a one-year deal, worth $427,000, with the Rockets offering an increase in the amount they would guarantee.

Landry, an-All Big Ten selection last season, averaged 18.9 points and 7.3 rebounds, making 59.7 percent of his shots. He can become a restricted free agent after the season.

I doubt anybody would offer him that much. But it's a stupid thing to sign your #31 pick a one year deal to begin with.

I thought it was because he had a subpar summer camp. Can't really blame the team if they were skeptical. I think this just means that Landry will have a nice pay raise this summer. Another reason we traded Bonzi and James.

I remember someone mentioned Clutch asked Morey about Landry's contract status before, he said Rox don't have the team option and Landry is a restricted free agent 2008-2009..

At the time we had almost 20 guys who were potentials for the roster. We had no idea how good he was so we couldn't justify guarenteeing him a bunch of money and multi year deal.

I've never got why people are down on what Landry did in the summer. He shot .500 from the field and as in the top 15 in rebounding for the league.

He will get more than Brooks or Scola in his 2nd year ;)

We're going to have to cut into our MLE to re-sign Landry. Other teams are only allowed to offer him up to the MLE, so we have the opportunity to match. Unfortunately, doing so will cost us our MLE as we don't even have early bird rights on him. Also, he can take the qualifying offer and become an unrestricted FA at the end of next season. That would suck. If we added one year to his contract this would not have been an issue. Sad that we gave Novak and JL3 three years, but only had one for Carl.

So forget about re-signing Landry and bringing in a highly touted free agent. Our options are highly limited.

The Rockets' inability to iron out a contract agreement with Landry before the season may come back and bite us this summer. Bummer.

We have a little over 11 mil of expiring contract next year assuming Francis re-ups. That doesn't leave us much room to get Landry, Scola and Jackson resigned let along getting any worth while free agent. Believe it or not at this point I hope we don't get Brent Berry so that we'd have more flexibility.

Realistically, what is he worth at this point? Is he going to wind up paid like the first or second pick of the entire draft (Oden/Durant)?
