thought we still had this guy but just saw him on the summer league boxscore - he is apparently now playing for Pheonix.

I saw a few minutes of the game last night... he didn't look too bad.

Clearly more evidence that the Rockets are not serious about their intentions to win a championship!

I still believe we should have kept him on the roster for the year. His contract was very inexpensive and he gave the Rockets a big body. If he succeeds in Phoenix, this will be more evidence of JVG's (alias the cowbird) inability to develop young players.

Or recognize talent, even when it's under his nose!
The recognition of talent and the ability to develop that talent is a FUNDAMENTAL of a good coach.Y :p

He probably won't even make their team, but I agree that if he does make their team and contribute it will be a mark against our coaching staff and management.

i have seen lampe play before. He reminds me of a potentially very raw, young, juwan howard. Maybe a bit more atheletic and quick, but not by much. He at times seems to be stronger than Juwan. He has good distance on his shot. He is inconsistent though.

Problem is that no one has tried to develop him. He needs minutes if not here, in the NBDL or in Europe. Sitting on some NBA teams bench does him no good.

In the summer league game on NBATV, he was dominating. he would dunk it basically everytime he got it in the paint. and when he would catch the skip pass he would knock down the jumper or three pointer. He had 15 in the first half that game.(versus detroit). I think he still could turn into something nice. i think that phoenix will try to replace burke with lampe and see if he can develop into something nice in the suns run and gun system. I think he has the most potential in that offense, then again most people do, but you get my point for lampe.

I agree! Not that Lampe was the answer to all of our problems, but with Swift gone and Motumbo aging we are thin at the 5. It makes you almost hope that there is a plan in place to add a legitimate 4/5 and thus they wanted to do the right thing and give Lampe a chance elsewhere.

Pretty amazing that Phoenix traded with New York to acquire Lampe. Lampe then had playing time in Phoenix, none in New Orleans, none in Houston, and now Phoenix snaps him up again.
