All these ex-Rocket dump-offs getting paid. Greg Smith probably due for a fat contact now

Wow. 6 million a year for Tarik Black. Again because it bears repeating, crazy money.

Hm, I looked it up and the dude was making the league minimum $845,059 last season. He played in 39 games and averaged 3.4 points and 4 rebounds in 12.7 minutes.

Maybe you followed the Lakers closely and can say otherwise, but I just don't see how any of the above stats would warrant such a dramatic jump in salary. I believe it's even a larger salary bump than what Chuck Hayes got from Sacramento when he left Houston.

Good for him. Baron Scott is a shtty coach. Black was playing well for the Lakers but not getting minutes.

This is one of the dumbest contracts in this off season.

Dude inured a lots last season and played less, he is under-sized and shown zero improvement in the last 2 seasons in the Lakers.

With the new cap, you can't really compare their contracts

$6.5M is about $3.5M under the new CBA. Also, Chuck Hayes got the full mid-level for 4 years. Black only got 2 years so Chuck still got more.

Good for Tarik, though. He's shown enough in limited minutes to prove himself worthy of an NBA roster spot at least. I think he could have done more if he had played for a more competent coach than Byron Scott.

Alright, this is going too far guys.

The cap increased dramatically, yes, and compared to Solomon Hill this is cheap, yes... but paying every D-league caliber guy $6M/year is not reasonable, regardless of the cap.

Dude got 3.5 pts and 4 rebs in just 12 mins, if you play him 20 mins he can probably get you 6 pts and 7 rebs. That's not bad for your spot guy and totally worth 3.5M which is what that 6M now amounts to. Being D League caliber is not necessarily bad a lot of DLeague guys have proven to be capable bench players in the NBA.

They probably didn't need to pay him 6M since suitors aren't beating a path to Tarik Black's door, but this is the team who paid Mozghov 16M a year so his backup being 6M sounds about right LMAO.

Happy for him. Not bad for somebody who was undrafted.
