Yea, i agree. They should've fed Rasheed more in the post. But sometimes it looks that Rasheed doesn't want the ball that much. I keep seeing Rip rolling off that pick and throwing up that jumper.
Can't say I say any real Laker ref favourism in this game, not until after giving the Pistons a few favourable calls. Like the Ben Wallace flop, if you noticed, Ben was already leaning on his heels and arching his weigth back just before Shaq made his backdown move, as soon as he made contact, boom Ben swings his body back. And that Hamilton call, where supposedly Malone, gee I really hate to say that name and actually say something in favor of him. But, again, where he supposedly nudged hamilton out of bounds. If you notice closely, Hamilton got tangled up with his own feet. Now after that, I did see those favourable calls for the Lakers.
The same feeling over here. I checked in for the 4th quarter early this morning and thought its gonna be a good day. And then!!! Why does this always happen we're watching the lakers? In crunch time no lead is ever safe against the lakers. I dont know, maybe it's the players, maybe it's the refs, i just dont know. it seems to happen again and again. f.... it. I switch to college basketball or is it also this worse?

If Larry Brown is a really great coach, he'll be able to somehow get his team to recover from this debacle. Unfortunately, if he was a really great coach, he'd know to foul ANYBODY (let alone Shaq) with a 3 point lead and you're on the road.
Oh yeah, forgot one. That fifth foul call on Kobe, again if you noticed, it wasn't his fault. Hamilton was the one that ran right into him, then swung his arms around, and blinked swaying his vision back and forth in a act portraying "OMG! I've been hit hard! BLIND SIDED. Where am I?" T'was all Hamilton, and I was surprised when Kobe got his fifth foul on that one. So, I'd say the "favourable" calls were pretty much fairly shared in game 2.
Anyone notice what happens the Lakers think they get bad calls? They might complain and get mad at the refs. But what usually happens the next play? They channel that anger into a great play/score. Again, another Phil lesson. No one should feel sorry for themselves. Attack the rim w/that anger, not the refs.
I don't care about some wrong calls in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd quarter. What counts are the wrong calls when you have two minutes to go. THAT changes the outcome of a game and not some wrong calls during the first 30 minutes. The NBA is a joke.
I'm sorry David but I doubt Phil said anything LIFECHANGING to the point where they played well. I'm pretty sure the fear of going down 0-2 entered their minds and i'm pretty sure all Phil said in the timeout was "inbounds the ball, give it to kobe, and pray"
Rip should of taken less shots and passed more into Rasheed. Billups should of taken on Fisher. He was on fire w/ his shots. Big Ben was definitely outplaying Shaq in the rebounding game (14-7). He seemed to have more energy than Shaq.
Well, usually when the Lakers get a bad call against them, the refs make a bad call in favor of the Lakers the next play, so as not to violate their contract with the Lakers.
I'm not talking about this game. I'm talking about in teaching these guys how to channel their energy in *all* games. This goes all the way back to the Bulls days. This happens all the time with Phil teams. They keep pushing, no matter what happens. Bad ref calls or not. But I tell you what. This was the first time that I've seen Phil NERVOUS BIG TIME. Why? Because he knows how hard it would be to get his team to gain confidence the next games. I mean, we're talking four HOFers. And if he looses with all this talent...well, the turn the lights off.
hahah...it's easy when you got probly the most determined players under your belt with Jordan and Kobe. He's a good coach but i'm just thinking you're spreading this Phil-love a bit to thick that's all.
That's has a huge effect on how the role players "feel about themselves." They know they have their bodyguards backing them up. But once those players in are in place. There is no room to be sorry for themselves. It's like, "Hey, you have all the talent, now go out and do the job!" There really isn't any excuses. I rememer one time when Luc Longly (Bulls play offs) fell on his back after going to the rim (hard foul). Luc started sucking after that. Phil chewed his ass in during a time out. He said, "Stop feeling sorry for yourself and go out and dunk on someone! If you don't, then sit on the bench! " Luc scored 10 straight points! He was playing like Wilt! Heh! All mind games.
well i hope he has more than that to say to devean george because he just walked himself right into that doghouse that's at the end of the bench tonight. Luke Walton should get a lot of credit for the way he played tonight.
Well, the only good news from tonight is the Astros beating Seattle 1-0. Damn, Lidge kicked some ass in the 7th inning (runner on 3rd, no one out, got out of it w/ no runs scored). Clemens - 9-0. Hopefully Detroit steps up in Game 3. I hate Kobe.
Yep! Hey, did anyone catch what Billups said during the post-game interview? He said, "This is gong to be good long series. They know it. And we're here. We're going to try and win it too" I was waiting for someone to give some sign that they have not given up. Shaq also said something funny. A reporter asked if he was tired. Shaq said, "I don't get tired, I'm more beat up than tired... But, I'm tired of you!"
For all the people that think Detroit will be demoralized and unable to recover, I think just stepping onto the wild, almost pandemonion-type atmosphere of the Detroit arena might change things. It is definately a very disappointing loss for Detroit, but I gotta give them props for giving LA all they could handle. Most people didn't even think Detroit had a chance... Gotta question the lack of getting the ball to Rasheed after he raped Malone though.
