Good trade for the Magic. Ariza was doing nothing for them this year, and they turned him into two semi-usable players.
Mo is crap. The Magic also take on salary and use their injured player exception in this. LA gets a defender that can let Kobe focus entirely on offense for 15 minutes a game. That's a big win right there for them.
Ariza played well for the Magic last season ... shot 54% and in 22 mpg averaged almost 9 pts. Looks like the Lakers are going for another athletic/slasher type, but not sure how that fits into the triangle offense.
Ariza has upside but will he ever develop. This might be a good "win now" move for the Magic. Long term, I think they hurt themselves. For the Lakers, they give up one player, Cook, who didn't get along with PJ. Both Cook and Evans have been terrible so far this season.
I like Ariza a lot. Young, tall, and athletic. Larry Brown didn't want him to be traded to Orlando when he was still at New York.
Lakers got the better of this trade, IMO. Mo and Cook do not have the upside Ariza has. Cook is pretty much useless and Mo's only asset, atheleticism, is in decline with his age.
Yup exactly. I'd imagine Orlando is in "win now" mode with their hot start and as wide open as the East is. They didn't really have the minutes for a project like Ariza so they turned that into two serviceable role players that you know what you're getting with them.
Damnit I think I just released Ariza on my fantasy team. Now this. He will surely look good in that triangle.
wow, ariza was someone they were hesistant to trade last season. i guess this can be seen as the magic choosing bogans over ariza. bad trade for orlando imo.
UCLA player going back to LA area, little bit added value for them & yeah woulda loved to seem him as a Rocket
Ariza is very athletic, but he really needs to work on his game. He kind of reminds me of the Toronto version of T-Mac, except with less handles. He has that sort of athleticism, but will he ever fulfill his potential?
I haven't seen the stats yet, but I remember some announcer saying Bogans is on fire from 3pt land this year. How is that possible? Keith Bogans...okay, I have to look this up now. 36%...not so bad, 2nd to Rashard Lewis on the team in % and makes (slightly better than Turkeyglue)...well I digress I think the biggest news is that b/c the Magic traded 1 for 2, they had to release someone. We must pick him up now.
All I can say is Bogans stunk it up from long range against the Celts and Hornets. I thought he was out of his mind for taking the shots until I checked his earlier boxscores.
