Sorry if it has been posted already. http://www.google.com/hostednews/canadianpress/article/ALeqM5hKnLO6AR7yc8xxjlrF2X72Q_OtlQ A sure-fire Hall of Famer, IMO.
Party boy Leinhart hasn't been terrible when he played, but he's not a borderline HOF like Warner. If he keeps the chicks in hot tubs and beer bongs away, he's definitely at least as good as Kyle Orton.
Leinart has sucked pretty bad when he's had his chances. They'll need a different QB, or they'll have to change the offense to run-oriented, with mostly short passes. The Chad Pennington offense as I'd call it.
Kurt Warner was one of the more likeable guys in the NFL, with his accomplishments both on and off the field. He'll be missed. Unless he pulls off a Brett Favre
he's been pretty bad. Yes, he has the potential to be as good as Kyle Orton. With the amount of talent on that offense, and after being a supposed Heisman winner and a top 10 pick, that's horrendous.
sad to see him go, but it's nice that there is no longer a debate as to his hall of fame status. imho, he will go down as one of the most underrated and under-appreciated qbs ever to play the game. he's top 5 all time in my book. not to mention that he is all class and has one of the craziest stories and paths taken that there could ever be. hat's off to you, kurt. you're a born winner, and i'm sure you will have a great retirement from football. wish your defense could have held for you at the end of the superbowl last year.
No joke, he is on crack. While Warner was a good QB, he is still a borderline Hall of Famer. I think he will get it and probably rightfully so but Top 5 all time is lunacy.
His Career QB Rating is good enough to get him serious HOF consideration, but "sure-fire" will be debatable. I said before he's similar to Steve Young in that he didn't have a career that spanned as many years as most HOF QBs, but the stats and the Super Bowl win are impressive.
i'd say a win next sunday gives peyton a lock on #1 for quite a while. the rest would be warner, montana, marino, and brady. montana and brady in either order at 2 and 3, and warner and marino in any order at 4 and 5. i can put him ahead of favre and elway without blinking an eye. steve young's all around talent and career passer rating crown makes him a case. i didn't watch football prior to the late 80's, so i guess my list can be considered starting from then, although i don't think it would change much regardless. again, just my opinion. don't really care if you think i'm "on crack" just because my top 5 differs from the masses.
No, the eyes of people on crack right now are lighting up as they think, "Man, I need whatever the hell it is he's on that caused him to put Warner ahead of Elway."
My Top 10: Joe Montana, Johnny Unitas, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Sammy Baugh, Otto Graham, Dan Marino, Brett Favre, John Elway and Roger Staubach.
I love the guy but I am not sure he is HOF material. He had 5 good years, is that enough for him to make the HOF? I think not....
I love Warner, but I think Steve Young has to go ahead of him. They were both similar players in terms of efficiency and quick decision-making, except Young was more consistent and more durable. (His mobility added another dimension as well.) I could see a case for Warner's peak meriting top 10 consideration, but I can't see him going ahead of those five in particular.
