Cat, Defense is ALL about positioning, and Mo is always getting fouls because he is out of position. He is constantly on his heels trying to catch up and thus incurs his fair share of fouls. If MoLazy would beat his man to the spot and deny him the ball, or force his man out of his favorite spot, he would get far less fouls called on him. Mo may indeed become a good player, and fit in, I am far from giving up on him, but he IS NOT playing well right now. Cat, For me this has nothing to do with mistakes or picking on just Mo, for the year he is averaging, and it doesn't matter what anyone else does, I am not commenting on them, I am just saying our 6foot 9inch Power Forward is averaging 3.9 rebounds game. That's all If we want to talk mistakes what's the deal with Steve and Cat missing so many Free Throws ------------------ "It's incredible to see how he [Mobley] can beat his guy one-on-one every time. That is a tremendous talent. The combination of Steve and Cuttino, I think, is wonderful in the backcourt." --the Dream
"PS. Mo gets so many fouls because he is lazy at getting in proper position, he just does not hustle on defense." Wrong, watch the game more closely. Mo is getting into foul trouble b/c he is excessively challenging too many plays on defense and in a sense is trying too hard at that end. He is just not used to playing good defense as he never learned the proper defensive fundamentals in Clipperville. He is experiencing the same problem Walt Williams did at the beginning of last yr. PS KT is not snagging a lot of boards. He is trying hard I admit, but 6 boards in 40 mins isnt good. The bottom line, the Nuggets still manhandled us on the boards tonight. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
Smeg, I agree he can do better in that area. It's just to me it looks like some of these posters haven't even been watching the games- this performance does not make KT worthy of starting. And anytime we blame someone for a poor performance, find a scapegoat, or bash someone, it's Mo. It never can be Steve and Cat for missing free throws or turnovers. It never can be about Shandon not getting involved offensively, or Walt. It can never be that Hakeem didn't shoot well from the field or the line. It never can be KT for shooting 30 something % from the field. Nope, whenever anything goes bad, it just seems like everyone just completely ignores those facts and finds a way to blame it all on Mo. It's absolutely ridiculous. ------------------ President of the Jason Collier fan club! Looking for next year's Jason Collier or Dan Langhi? Draftsource.net ClutchTown.com
By the way...Los was 4-4 from the field for 10 points and 5 boards in only 17 minutes, so he was BY far the most productive PF tonight. DaDakota ------------------ If Mankind evolved from Monkeys and Apes, then why are there still Monkeys and apes?
MManual, Read my last post, we pretty much are saying the same thing, by being lazy, I am talking about his ability to get in proper position. I am not bashing Mo, just pointing out that he needs work..as does KT, and Francis and so on...etc...etc... This team is far from a finished product. DaDakota ------------------ If Mankind evolved from Monkeys and Apes, then why are there still Monkeys and apes?
Cat, As a Mobley Apologist I completely understand what you are talking about. KTs current shooting will stop him from starting, it is worth remembering KT missed 3 or 4 Threes from nearly the same spot (1 in each quarter) before making the decider in OT. Missed FTs often get missed when you get a win especialy in OT, but had we lost in regulation Steve's missed FT would have been completely to blame. Mo should of had a big game tonight,I just knew we would forget about him when Rudy took him out and whats up with that? Is it a law Mo can not finish the 1st quarter! KT did step up later in the game but before the 4th he sucked it up out there.I was nervous with him and Anderson out there at the end of the game. Still Mo needs more than 24 minutes a game to get rebounds and I dont get where anyone can say he isnt hustling out there because it is clear as day that he is.He isnt that bad of a rebounder he just isnt going to get many offensive boards and he can play a hell of a lot better D than KT however bad he is! Dont get me wrong im not a KT hater but right now I think he should be playing behind Mo as well as Rogers RIGHT NOW. ------------------ President of the why in the Hell isnt Langhi playing club!!!
Dakota, We are partially on the same page. I agree that Mo Taylor has the tendency to give up too much position somtimes as does KT. The main reason McDyess went off tonight is that against either of them, he was getting into the paint easily with one on one coverage. However, I was referring to Mo Taylor attempting to be a weakside shot blocker on two separate occassions when LaFrentz and McDyess were going strong to the basket. Also, on another occassion when McDyess had him beat, he attempted to go for a block shot instead of standing straight up. It was Mo's fault that McDyess had beat him but why compound the mistake trying to go for a low percentage block shot? Mo has been making some silly fouls which have kept him out of the game, but I dont fully feel its laziness. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
"Is it a law Mo can not finish the 1st quarter!" No, but it's getting to be a rule (less powerful than a law) that he'll finish the first with 3 fouls - unless Rudy takes him out. This is not the first time, or even second, that he's fouled out. Rudy keeps having to take him out early just to avoid that. He's worthless once he fouls out, and that guarantees him limited minutes. This is no one's fault but Mo's. I have faith that he will eventually figure out what he's doing wrong (positioning). The staff will work with him on that before booting him out. But, like Shandon... we don't have all night. ------------------
I agree with theCat in that Kenny should not be starting. Noone would be giving him all of this praise if he would have missed that 3 at the end or played a mediocre game. He did hit that big shot, though, and played well tonight. I'm not sure if Mo will ever develop into the rebounder that we all would like. He's never been one to crash the boards and I don't think that coming here will change that. Hopefully I'm wrong. ------------------ "The world is filled with mediocrity; rise above it. How about HoMo Taylor? Some people call me The Space Cowboy Some call me The Gangster of Love Some people call me Maauurrrice and wish I played defense like the Glove People talk about me baby Say I'm doing it wrong, doing it wrong Well don't you worry baby, don't worry Cuz I won't be a starter for very long Cuz i'm a picker, I'm a shooter, i'm a scorer, not a rebounder. I want to be a Sun. I'm a joker, I'm a smoker, a midnight toker I get my points on the run. [This message has been edited by outlaw (edited December 01, 2000).]
That's a nice redo of a great song, but I suspect that callin the man "HoMo" Taylor would not get a very nice reception... ------------------
