So my pastor, a man born and raised in Tennessee and Kentucky, mentioned to me Sunday that there was a Krystal restaurant in Houston. I was surprised, because I hadn't seen it mentioned here on the board, and I didn't think there were any in Texas, let alone Houston. However, he was right. It's about a mile west of 45 on 1960 in north Houston. Apparently it's been there for about a year. I went today and ordered a handful of the cheese Krystals. The first one I didn't really like. By the last one I was pissed off I didn't order more. So basically I was wondering if anyone knew that was there, and how similar their burgers are to White Castle. My pastor claims there's absolutely no difference.
There's a Krystal in Beaumont where I grew up.. but I swear I never realized it was a burger place until about 8 months ago. I don't know how they stay in business.. to me the place looks like a dry cleaners. Never tried em.
I've gotten budgers and chicken sandwiches a few times from the Krystal burger off of George Bush in North Dallas. Pretty good, though not worth going as far out of the way as I have to go to get them.
yeah, that's the only Krystal Burger I know of in Houston. It's been there for a few years now, maybe three years.
I just saw one the other day here in Waco, had no idea they were even in Texas. Planning on trying them soon.
For those of us who grew up eating White Castle, Krystal is totally inferior. It's a cheap imitation. I can't quite put my finger on exactly what it is. I went to that Krystal one time and won't go back.
in my opinion, their burgers suck. their chicken sandwiches are pretty good as is their breakfast stuff. but their burgers? overrated/overhyped.
Actually, it was posted here back in the beginning of last year. Someone had a fast food thread and thats how i found about it. IMO, i think they are great, a little bit expensive, but other than that, great bite size burgers. I used to work by there (i-45N and Beltway 8) but nowhere near there now. If I am ever in the area, I'll stop by again. I thought that they were going to open more in Houston, but its been almost 2 years since that one opened.
This is definitely walking the line of on-topic, but is anyone else baffled by the popularity of In n' Out in Cali? It tastes like something they cleaned the floor with at Becks, yet my Californian friends rave about that garbage. Same with Culvers up north.
oh i've been raved to by a certain californian about this place... all i gotta say is HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. *gasps for breath* AHAHAHAHAHAHA
Thankyou. I'm so tired of that In-N-Out BS. I swer I know more people from Cali than I do here, and that's all I hear about. It's like a small step above McDonald's. Get over it. I thinks it's just a nostalgia thing for Californians. Texans grow up remembering Whataburger, but we don't go claiming that it transcends fast-food. I don't know many places other than Beck's Prime and Freebirds that do that.
It was something like .60 w/o cheese and .70 with cheese. I usually get the combo for 2 with a friend of mine, something like a total of 12 minis with 2 orders of fries and drinks for like $9-10.
I grab Krystal occasionally in Beaumont. I like them, but I can't put my finger on why. I get the 5 burger combo. Krystal definitely blows Whitecastle out of the water.
Yeah I have no idea how they stay open either. There is never anyone there and they are competing with Wienerschnitzel, BW3, Starbucks, KFC, and Chik-Fil-A all within a block or 2. Not to mention there is a MCD's, 3 sandwich places and a Sonic within a few miles of it.
