If you were starting a new franchise, and had to choose between Kobe and T-Mac as your first player, who would you choose?
Say what you will about Tmac - at least he WANTS to play with Yao. Kobe is a bad character guy who forced the Lakers to gut their team (and eliminate themselves from EVER winning a championship) just to feed his ego Kobe: No... I don't want to play with the most dominate player in the game - I would rather run the floor with Chris Mihm !
Ask him again today and I bet he says that he should have gone to play with Amare. Even the Rockets knew he would not like to play with Yao and thats why they locked him up for 3 more years.
It's gotta be T-Mac... As individual players...Kobe has more skills...because his defense sets them apart. However, I think many Rockets fans know that if T-Mac put forth the effort, he could be just as good or better at defense than Kobe... But Kobe is the most selfish player in the league. He drove the most dominant player in the NBA and the best coach in the NBA out of town...he WANTS to lose. T-Mac came to a better team because he wants to work with others, he's fine with sharing the leadership role...that's how you win. The only player to successfuly win a ring the way Kobe is trying is Jordan...and Kobe is no Jordan.
The only reason this could be disputed right now is because Kobe's an A-HOLE and he lives a soap opera, if he wasn't voting for him would of been much easier.
Kobe plays better D, is more clutch, and wants to carry a team. T-mac wines and leaves a team when he can't carry them. If Kobe wasn't such a jerk he is clearly better.
It's all subjective. Really no need to compare those two. As T-Mac said himself, Kobe has 3 rings, and T-Mac has yet to come to the second round in playoffs. I dislike Kobe's character, but you have to admit that his desire to win is above lots of other star players. I have liked T-Mac's talent and game, since Toronto days. But you have to win, eventually to be remembered as one of the great players. Same thing for Yao, really makes no sense to compare him with Dream or other great centers. We can talk about potential all we want, but on the end, winning is more important. Let's be realistic, the first thing Rockets need to worry about is how to make an open jumper, and how to bring out A-games from Yao and T-mac at the same time. Then, only maybe then, after we have some respectable winning streaks, we can start our dreams of how great they might be in the future. But now, let's not compare them with any great players. Potential doesn't do you any good, as long as you can't realize it with real wins. Look at Carter, how good he was, and how pathetic he is now.
I voted for T-Mac but if I had my choice of anyone in the league it'd be Lebron. No doubt in my mind.
if the nba released all of the players from thier contracts and started over with a fantacy draft, lebron would go first. after that, you would see the usuall...kg, duncan, kobe, tmac, JO, dirk, yao, kirilenko, amare... just my guess.
and this is on a rocket bbs. just think of how much kobe would win by if this was put on espn or nba.com.
As matter of fact, Kobe is better shooter and more clutch player than Tmac, even better por in sexual activity.
Only problem that would lead me to not pick Kobe would be his off the court actions and the way he handles himself on the court as well. His arrogance is not a good type that Jordan had. You can be arrogant but not act the way Kobe does. All this He said she said stuff with Malone and the way he has the ability to run out all his team mates because he wants to be the focal point of the team is not worth getting him to start a team. If you asked me to pick one for a one on one game i would go with Kobe. But to build a team around you need a "TEAM PLAYER" which Kobe is not and i would pick T-Mac
