Tell me when Kobe can do this at age 38 and I will reconsider. http://video.aol.com/video-detail/michael-jordan-2002-nba-record-51-pts-at-age-38/4165856250
Kobe is fantastic, the best in the league at the present time, but Jordan is arguably the best of all time. For now, Jordan.
With all due respect to Kobe Bryant....I have him as the best current player in the league... Michael Jordon would have owned him back in his day.
Yeah, but half these athletic players can't play worth a damn (see Stromile Swift or Gerald Green). And I think I am being generous by giving them half.... I think the league is definately more athletic then it was in the 80's. However, I always laugh when MJ detractors (and I don't even like MJ) bring that up, considering he won all of his titles in the 90's, and there were plenty of big, athletic wings in the league at that time. Dude's didn't just get big and athletic once Kobe was drafted.
really? when bulls didn't have MJ but pippen, pippen still did great, came in as one of the leaders for MVP. u gotta stop this jordan fetish and see him for what he is
u do see pippen making sure MJ looks good by pushing down the guys whose supposed to be guarding him, then a ref blows the whistle for a foul anyways
in terms of purely putting points on the board, there's little reason to think kobe won't be able to do that at age 38. kobe's that good at scoring. to me jordan will always be better, for his style and accomplishments.
Kobe has not had Shaq for the last three years and he's been a more dominant player-- except for winning a championship. Kobe has had Gasol as a teammate for one-half of one season. Kobe has had Lamar Odom for, what, 3 seasons? Jordan played on a very stable team (with Pippen all those years too) while Kobe's squad has re-invented itself a couple of times. I don't think Kobe is getting enough credit...
Yeah Jordan didn't have a star in Pippen until they started winning titles. You can't use the analogy that Jordan had Pippen as if he was already a star. Pippen in the Bulls first title was basically Lamar Odom the past 3 years and Jordan never had a 7 footer who could get him easy buckets in the paint. Also Kobe was the problem of why the Lakers became unstable. Kobe also got outplayed by a guy who wasn't even a star in the finals and allowed him to take home the finals mvp which is pathetic in Billups.
