He's a great player, just one of many unique talents to enjoy in the NBA...Boy I can't wait for the season to start. Last playoffs had some of the best basketball I had seen in a long, long time and has me really excited about the upcoming season. IMO, one thing that's making the NBA fun again for many fans is the lack of a completely 'dominant' team, and therefore a higher likelihood of 'upsets' and a bunch of 'down-to-the-wire' basketball being played in the playoffs (how many series went 6 or more games? A lot of great basketball was played this past season). I can't wait for the new NBA season and I can't wait for the Rockets to once again take a part in the NBA postseason.
yea i give everyone that kobe is extremely talented. That video was sick, especially for one season (that was a nice move in the allstar game), but i was wondering if we have ne new t mac mix vidoes.
Don't forget that he wouldn't play for Rudy either..... How could you not want to play for Rudy????!!! He's the man!! And one of the best 'players' coaches ever
I've always said he is the only player right now with the potential to be better than Jordan. Key word being potential before I get jumped on by alot of ya'll. He has everything, but the main thing is effort. He has been my favorite player with Yao a close second. The both of them work so hard it's not even funny. I see alot of battles with Kobe in the Rockets' future.
hahahahaha ^^ Potential isnt even there. Watch PHX game 7 2006 playoffs. He can't even crack top 3 in this generations era of player efficiency ratings. Place him there then you may as well give guys like Shaq and T Duncan top GOAT status. I never understood how people could ride all over a guy who has never won an MVP or done anything guys like Iverson hasnt done. If you wanna throw points in there, go ahead, but In every other category he loses out because noone shoots as much as him, especially this past year. Lebron had him so beat
It's comparable, but i would still give the nod to J. J seems quicker, and stronger, and possibly a better defender. But on any given night, Kobe might be on more than J. J was also more clutch.
I'm not a big Kobe fan but I do respect his game immensely. As for the non-basketball reasons listed above, I don't think they're very good reasons. Jordan's mannerisms are associated with greatness, and being a Jordan fan I'm sure Kobe is just being a basketball version of a fanboy. There are millions of other people in the world out there who are trying to be like Mike, but Kobe's the best at it which is why he's in the league. It's because Kobe can do these Jordanesque maneuvers that people hate him (how dare he TRY to match the greatness of Jordan!). It's true that Kobe wanted a team to himself. Can you blame him really? Despite everything he did for that Lakers team, everyone was telling him that he's nothing without Shaq. He'll never be one of the greats because he's riding Shaq's coattails. That's why he seriously considered joining the clippers. The media likes to make a drama out of it, saying that Kobe was just playing the Lakers. The truth is that the Lakers (mostly Jerry Buss) did not want to pay Shaq that much money. An aging Shaq being paid max money would handcuff your team for years to come, two max players doesn't leave room for much improvement. (yes he won a championship in Miami, but that team was on the rise already and had better players). But how do you tell Laker fans that you don't want to keep a man that helped get you THREE championships? You spin it, and Kobe was the recipient of the backlash in dumping Shaq. Another poster was saying how much better the team plays when Kobe passes. But the truth is, his team is made up of players with extremely limited offensive abilities. Who besides Odom can even come close to creating their own shot (and frankly, he isn't THAT good)? Kobe needs to force teams to double/triple team him and create for his team. They do play better when Kobe passes, AFTER he commits 3/5ths of the other team to defending him. Is the situation any different at all when Yao was out last season and McGrady had to carry this team? From interviews (not just after games), it seems Kobe (like McGrady) fully understands what is needed for his team to win. He does "get it", he just needs help. In the meantime he'll have to continue to jack up shots (with Phil's blessing) to keep his team competitive. Sorry for the long winded post, got carried away.
thank you for informing me but.. 1. so what if he imitates jordan... he's skilled enough to pull it off (as shown by the video) 2. players get traded all the time for whatever reason (management, personalities, etc) 3. doesn't seem selfish to me, given the players that surround him... he almost has to take the shots. 4. no argument about the rape charge though... thats serious business right there. overall... i dont think kobe deserves the heat he gets for the talent he has.
